I bought a Mister for playing arcade games because I hate dealing with MAME, but it's so good that I decided to sell all of my cartridges too. This is a great little box. Best $300 I've spent in a while!

It's not $600, I don't even know where you got that number from. It's $250 for the board, and if you want to play cores that require the extra ram then it's $60 for the ram. If you paid $600 than you got scammed.

While I didn't sell any of my old stuff, mine also has more or less replaced all my 5th gen and prior consoles. I too bought it to play arcade games at 240p without it being a fiasco and have been very impressed with how functional everything is. Usually with an open source project everything is hassle but not with MiSTer. Would recommend if you have the money and want something that just works.

I’ve been tempted because MiSTer is so good, but I’ve been too sentimental thus far. Software emulation never remotely tempted me to do anything like that.
