Oi m8's, it's only 40 years since the CPC was born innit! I never had one but do have some fond memories of the CPC, a classic system. Say something nice about the Amstrad general.

Had a 6128+ and spent a lot of time playing it with my brother's. Completed Robocop on it but Batman's batwing level kicked my arse.
Played the educational games on it quite a bit too.

I think it has the best version of Head over Heels. The Amiga/ST ports are based on the c64 port which has some different layout.

was a great machine except for the choice of disk drive.

>I think it has the best version of Head over Heels.
it's great, but ST version is the best. The Amiga version is just a port from the ST but it's not based on the c64 version at all. (c64 version sucked).

Where did the April date come from? The machine wasn't released until late June 1984.

Agree on this adding that colour enhances the visual effect.

My mate at primary school had a CPC. The only games I remember playing on it were Short Circuit and Howard the Duck.

My pal had a 6128 I would have loved one if I could have afforded it, it came with CPM and LOGO which I found really fascinating.

I played one of these at school as a kid. When they upgraded to IBM pcs, my friend got one from the librarian. I think he got on the bus with the whole thing.

I agree. It had better music as I recall and some when you entered rooms that other versions didn’t have.
Shame about all the shitty direct from spectrum conversions.

Cousin had one, nice colour palette but soundchip was trash and every game seems to run slow as shit. Couldn't hold a candle to my C64. For some reason the CPC was popular in France.

Oi mate, if you're lookin' to get your mitts on a proper Amstrad CPC emulator, you've gotta check out WinAPE, innit? It's the dog's bollocks – proper good, I tell ya. It's got all the bells and whistles: sound emulation, support for all them CPC models, and even a built-in debugger for the tech-savvy geezers.

You just download it, right, and you're off to the races. It's like havin' a chippy on your PC, but instead of fish and chips, you're munchin' on classic games and software from the good ol' days. And the best part? It's as free as the birds, no dosh needed!

So don't muck about, give WinAPE a go and relive the glory days of the Amstrad CPC. Bob's your uncle!

People always type fake britshit, but never type engrish for chinkshit threads or japthreads. This has been noted.

z80 is not exactly a powerful cpu (slower than 6502 despite z80 running at 4mhz) and the graphics chip was designed for character displays.
>Couldn't hold a candle to my C64
VIC-II chip was just incredible for the time
>For some reason the CPC was popular in France.
only time i saw them were in schools in australia during the 1980s before they were all replaced with C64s.

I liked c64 and Amstrad was still fairly popular here. Speccy flopped hard here though. :(

It had one of the best colour palettes from all of those old micro computers. Second only to the C64.

Genuinely retroarch is better for emulating speccy and amstrad. It just works. And I hate retroarch normally too. This is one of the few reasons I tolerate having it on my PC.

>> No.10851349

You can't go past MiSTer for good Amstrad support today, really nailed it.
