Arcade? Snow bros, bubble bobble, Joust, Metal Slug 1,2 and 3(all of them are good but earlier ones are best).
If you want more kirby you can try emulating two gbas with link cable (I know nocashgba can do this, probably others too) and play Nightmare in dreamland or amazing mirror, but the whole setup is wonky, probably not suited for couch playing

If you like shoot em ups check out The Great Ragtime Show aka Boogie Wings for MAME. It has a cool mechanic I’ve never seen elsewhere, when your plane gets shot down you keep playing as the tiny pilot running along the ground, you can then jump onto a motorcycle or a horse and your partner can even pick you up with the grappling hook attached to their plane. The style is reminiscent of Progear which is another fun side-scrolling arcade shmup. Never really see this game discussed here but it’s really good. Ninja Baseball Bat Man is another fun one but it’s a beat em up. You also can’t go wrong with Goof Troop for SNES or BeBall for PC Engine. All the bomberman games as well, especially the ones that have co-op story mode.
