What's the first arcade game you remember seeing IRL?
I remember being at a fast food place when I was a toddler and being mind-blown with the pseudo 3D of Pac-Mania. I was too young to even ask for a play but I remember starting at it a lot. It was magical.

Great classic. Never saw the arcade but I played it a lot on my Famiclone.

yeah that had to be it! memories are so weird, man. it's like the only thing i remember is the hoops, circus, and that maybe it was on freeplay mode.. but that'd be awfully generous if true

Ms Pac Man and Dragon's Lair. Arcades were full of cigarette smoke back in those days.

I dont remember the first arcade game I ever saw. to far back. Probably pacman or donkey kong. I do remember a local mexican burrito place had a sit down cocktail puzzle bobble machine I loved. Also remember loved playing the sega jurassic park arcade rail shooter with my brother at chucky cheese.

Also street fighter 2

There's a family restaurant near my home town. In a corner it had Pole Position, Street Fighter 2, Space Invaders, and some of those capsule toy machines.

The Simpsons arcade game, sometime during the mid 2000s.

Coulda been anything, prolly Pac-Man or Galaga I imagine. I remember being into Showbiz Pizza's Super Pac-Man for a while, even though I didn't understand it very well, because I liked how Pac-Man could grow bigger. I have multiple memories related to Nintendo cabinets, PlayChoice-10 and such, at Aladdin's Castle and McDonald's and probably other places. I can't think of any others from that early in my life.

Later I'd play at a Godfather's Pizza my family went to occasionally; they had Altered Beast (the favorite thanks to its good graphics), Mappy, Buster Bros., and others. I also seem to remember playing Super Off Road at a Pizza Hut. All of that happened later than the Showbiz era though.

Pac-Mania was fucking awesome. That arcade version seems way better than the NES cart I had.

It was either Pac-Man or Donkey Kong at a bar my mother would sometimes frequent. This was also back when smoking was allowed in establishments, so I could only play it for about 10 minutes tops before I had to go outside because my eyes would be burning from the second-hand smoke.

Simpsons arcade as well, but in the early 90s at Disney World. The Cemetary level scared the shit out of me.
The first arcade game that i could fully appreciate was Vendetta. I watched older kids play it, just dumping quarters like mad. It seemed far superior to my copy of streets of rage back home. Being able to use your enemies' shotguns solidified its greatness for me

Whoa wait I just remembered Moon Patrol and some 1v1 kung fu game, and I think Crystal Castles, at a swim club my family went to when I was little. Maybe that came before my Showbiz and Aladdin's Castle experiences. Man that was awesome, standing damply in that dark little hellhole that the owner of the place had decided to turn into a tiny arcade and snacking area, and playing weird games that you don't like that much but that are super interesting and exciting anyway because they're novel to you and you're not playing them at home.

This remembrance has also unlocked my awareness of the existence of the weird candy we'd eat there that had you dipping a white candy stick into some flavored powdery crud. Maybe it was the thing pictured here. I liked the stick more than I liked the powder.
