i actually was emulating this for a bit every day when id want a break from the longer games
im pretty bad at it though i feel like i was really good at it and patient as a kid because i finished the dex

Funny you say that because it's the opposite of that. When I was a kid I got this game because I liked Pokémon and just cared about completing the dex, but I had no patience and sucked at the game. Got mad at it many times and could never complete it.
As an adult I returned to it because I love pinball vidya now, and am much more patient.

Put this game on my retropie, played it for the first time in years. Caught multiple pokemon and evolved them, made it to multiple towns, got #5 on the high score.

I play them on the NDS and use fast forward in the emulation. Usually five to eights minutes. Sometimes I linge to get my poop 'n zoop in.
