I think SEGA was more popular among older kids. They focused a lot on getting big names in the sports industry as well as stuff like blood in Mortal Kombat. Nintendo was and still is very Japanese, so this rivalry basically didn't exist in Japan where it was more between Nintendo and NEC

One was better at sports games and action games, and the other had more and better RPGs and was better at multimedia stuff, plus had Nintendo first/second-party software.

Nintendo's revenue per year is higher than EA's total assets. Try again.

It had more, but I wouldn't say they were better.

Sega peaked in that brief period during the late 80s/early 90s when they literally had the best selling console on the planet (Genesis) and just a bit before SNES took over & kept a permanent headstart. They were basically the WCW of video games. Held the top spot briefly but eventually got demolished by the competition once their novelty & creativity ran out of steam.

Oh, that's easy. Nintendo is what Segain't and Sega does what Nintendon't.

English translation: Nintendo was focused on the home console market (and later, the handheld market), and Sega was primarily focused on the arcade scene but had a console division.

that built in stereo synthesizer is something demosceners to this date cling onto, saying that genesis is real chiptune due to that, while snes was glorified sampler like mpc
so in a sense, sega did what nintendidnt. made real synthesizer with real sound chip

SEGA tried appealing more to arcade fans, sports fans and fans of licensed IPs, while also trying to have a more "mature" image, "cooler" at a time where some edge was always welcome, while Nintendo went for a home console focused approach, and more timeless in it's style, however both ended up timeless.

It was the better of all console wars since both sides were just similar enough to be comparable and just different enough to have identity and make said "war" make any sense whatsoever, and the kids that owned both were the real winners.

Sega was an arcade company with a console division. Nintendo was a toy company that got into video games in the 80s and quickly moved to the console industry.

Sega was for Gen X, SNES was for millennials

Sega was edgier with more violent, gross, or offensive content while SNES continued all the classic Nintendo franchises. Sega had better sound and graphics, but SNES had better gameplay and variety of game genre. SNES also had way more buttons which made it better to play third party games.

I was glad to be an SNES kid

Sega was for kids whose parents bought them a Genesis. SNES was for kids whose parents bought then an SNES. I had both, and I'm glad I did, because it allowed me to not turn into a console warring dipshit.
