Super Monkey ball?
How easy is that to set up with an emulator? I guess you just have it read gyro as a stick input?

That's probably the best application. Could possibly work well with marble madness, or other trackball games. Wouldn't necessarily work for something like golden tee where angle is important but he trackball is very sensitive in regards to velocity, or probably wouldn't allow the accuracy needed in Centipede but there might be a few that work well.

Came here to say this, it's also how the modern Super Monkey Ball games are played

There's a few source ports for old shooters that have native support. I know Ironwail and Yamagi Q2 do. Supposedly the Nightdive remasters as well but the gyro support has issues like a massive deadzone you can't remove.

Play OoT through the SoH ports though this just makes the game easier and should be supplemented by difficulty mods

I really liked playing 5th gen racing games through them like an improvised negcon. 6th is fine too but you're better off with a wheel there, anything with no FFB is great for it.

is there a way to set up gyro on duckstation, or do you need retroarch?

I actually tried this once. It's not as intuitive or precise as it sounds. I used a Switch Pro controller with Steam Retroarch Dolphin core tho. The arcade machine with the trackball was better

Run it through steam, retroarch absolutely hates gyros. No idea if you can make retroarch through steam work too.

I gotta try this. Will report back.
I have a feeling this is an application where native support would be far superior though. I've actually been thinking about doing an implementation for Neverball just to see. Should be easy as it's using SDL.
