I updated my local MAME installation for one truly important Japanese gaming milestones and the pinnacle of MAME usage. The Super Real Mahjong series. Decided to record the scenes too, even the advertiser friendly original console games.

The Super Real part comes from the first arcade game that is just mahjong, but tried to set itself apart with realistic hand animations. This failed, obviously, as why even have it milk your quarters when you can just get a mahjong set and use your own super realistic hands? They pivoted to stripjong in 3 months and bet on hand-drawn animations instead of still images like most competitors which made it a huge hit (in the world of mahjong titles).

Gonna play some Doom first. Russian Doomers made a celebratory set of levels for Doom's 30th anniversary, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Fun combat and great exploration, really enjoying hunting for secrets.

Then I've gotta go shopping, I feel like getting some McNuggets for lunch since it's Friday. Might play some Worms Armageddon or Diablo for the evening.

Tonight I'll be enjoying some extremely comfy KIROV REPORTING as the Ultimate Collection just released on Steam. Supposedly they included some compatibility fixes which will be nice because I had to fuck around with random fixes and shit needed to get RA2 working on W10/11 in the past. It will be nice if it is truly plug and play.
