Master of the Lamps. C64 version has slightly better music thanks to wacky SID distortion but Atari 8-bit version is still a very solid game.

Wait, I just realized that OP posted XEGS and not a regular computer. You'd need a disk drive to play a lot of games, but the cartridge library is still vast enough.

don't buy games

make your own sio2usb cable and use respeqt as a virtual disk drive. you can even find a lot of cart games that have been converted to .xex files online which will run fine.

I'd also invest in an ultimate 1mb, adds a lot of useful features including more ram which opens up a lot more software for you to run. there's still a lot you can run without one though so it's not really essential.

another thing to note is that a lot of software on these machines is PAL only so installing a PAL GTIA and ANTIC + crystal might be something to look into as well.
