Neo Geo pretty clearly shows the superiority of the cartridge format. The Sega Saturn, a much newer console, with insanely higher specs on paper, struggles to play Neo Geo games because it has to load all the data to memory off a CD.

I miss the "over-the-top"ness of arcade games. They knew most players were only going to play for about 30 minutes, so they crammed the most intense 30 minute experience possible. That cube looks like a 3D wireframe to me. If I supplied you with 300 “2D” screenshots of that cube and then shower you the right 2D screenshot based on your head positioning tracked via your webcam, would it make a difference? Every frame in a video game is “2D” screenshot but it’s actually 3D. If you hopped into the Metaverse with us you could see it yourself.
