Alright, that's something at least. I just tested it out. It's pretty fucking good. I had but the briefest experience with the Virtual Boy, only playing Wario Land for a few minutes at a Toys R' Us back in the day, and again a few years later when a family friend's kid brought his over with Mario's Tennis. I've always been curious about these games and a few others like Teleroboxer and Red Alarm, so it's nice to finally be able to experience them in 3D, even if the visor effect of the original will be lost.

But it didn't, so writing an emulator for 3DS that can show its graphics properly is a good idea. VirtualBoy hardware is simple anyway, the developer didn't have to spend that much time on this compared to newer, more complex consoles. ESPECIALLY considering that the entire library is less than 20 games, so checking for regressions is a piece of cake.

Having an option to change the color is a godsend. The 3D effect looks stunning too. I wonder how hard it is to program an emulator that simulates 3D effects on 3DS using the window layer. I would love to play Game Boy games that look like this.

wario land isnt even the best game on it, it's just the one that's most playable with a regular gamepad and with a name that people give a shit about (only devoted few will play old baseball/fishing games).

This post reminds me of how irritating english commentary on wonderswan is, where it seems people recommend or get excited about anything that is playable without JP even though several of them, like the capcom platformers, fucking suck. Just becomes so obvious to identify people who barely skim the surface of a console's knowledge but aren't afraid to mouth off online (or own an unusual hardware just to put it on a shelf).

By your own personal standards, yeah if you want it to be. By this board's official standards, no. The rule in the sticky is:
>Retro gaming means platforms launched in 2001 and earlier, and official game titles for those platforms released no later than December 2007 (homebrew console games made after this date will be permitted).

DS came out in 2004 which conflicts with "2001 and earlier".

could you post the link for the homebrew set? I have fullset of retail and some protos but I can't find homebrew games without downloading individual games off planetvb

lack of PCM sucks for T&E games. Also red alarm crashes often and golf runs way too fast. Starting to think that's a common emulator problem however as every emu I ee looks wrong for it

I thought Red Alarm worked on that Oculus-based Virtual Boy emulator I was messing with.

Could have been wrong (and/or didn't spend enough time with it to be sure), though.
