That opening cinematic was the most epic thing I’d seen in a game back then. Perfect setup for a near-perfect game that itself set up a near-perfect state for WoW. Unfortunately wow lost the fucking plot years ago.

They literally sold out to activision. Thats why it just dropped further and further in quality. Lost all soul and just became money driven.

Blizzard has almost never been an independent company, the difference was all their previous owners either didn’t know what to do with them or were smart enough to leave them alone. WoW is the difference, it made so much money there was no way kotick could resist paying for such a fat, almost guaranteed cash stream. Add the industry changes (always-online, ddl, microtransactions, dei) on top of that and you have the recipe for blizzard’s destruction. They’re literally just an oil well being pumped dry now.
