What's some good pre-Galaxy ROM hacks that are decent? Sick of playing the same shit.

the one you posted definitely aint it.

Try luigis mansion hacks, there are a few good out there. Theres no real good sunshine hacks out there to my knowledge, only real experimentational stuff. Give it 7+ years and there'll be a ton.

There's a lot of zelda and banjo hacks but I haven't played any
Mario Kart 64 Amped Up is good. 16 new maps, tricks/drift boosts, and lots of unlockables. Pretty much a sequel to mk64

The shotgun is a triple jump and a skeleton key. You can't really kill anything with it

What I hate about Mario 64 romhacks is that there are a LOT of technically impressive ones, but so many of them don't understand that Mario 64 intentionally kept its mandatory platforming to a minimum because the physics aren't great for it.

Do both and play Jiggies of Time.

They're made with experienced player in mind. Outside of kaizo autism they're a pretty fun challenge once you've beaten vanilla sm64

I was going to make a new thread but I'll just use this one, how do I get into SMW hacks? All I know is Kaizo Mario World

>> No.10669101

>>10667556
Play one of them and you'll understand. Mario 64 REALLY wasn't made for precise platforming. It's why the game always makes the platforms you have to land on massive. The closest it ever gets to that is Rainbow Ride.

>> No.10669108

>>10669101
I've played loads of them. You can precisely platform pretty easily with mid air kicks. Most hacks follow a similar difficulty curve as the actual game. Early courses are flat with few death pits like bob omb battlefield and late ones require more precision like rainbow ride.

The trick is to look at Mario's shadow on the ground, not his character model. His shadow is always directly below him and it's the same size no matter how high up he is, so you can pinpoint exactly where you're going to land if you drop straight down.
