I never heard of Shadow the Hedgehog before the PS2 game where he has a gun. I might have been vaguely aware that Sonic Adventure 1 existed (I'd played a Dreamcast, but only Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi, but I'm sure I saw the game on a store shelf or advertisement or something). No one I knew played these games. Or even had a console you could play it on, pretty sure this ain't on PS2.

Is this actually based off of anything or just fan headcanon because SA2 actively went out of its way to purge any of the 2D games references that were peppered around SA1 and it basically only references SA1 as far as I could tell. I remember there was a very small amount of dialogue at the very end suggesting that Sonic had something more to do with Shadow but it never went anywhere and as far as I can tell that plot thread was completely dropped. Probably a good thing honestly because Sonic should never get a real backstory imo.
