>Assume NST is accurate because everyone told me it was

Am I retarded or is N.Sane Trilogy just different..

pill-shaped hitbox

Of course it's different. 0% of the original Crash developers were involved.

who the fuck was that? it's an entirely new engine, of course it's going to feel different. as far as I know, they tried basing this new engine on Crash 3's physics and then trying to tweak it accordingly for the other two games, but the results are pretty mixed.
>Crash 1
feels completely different because of the jump. the jump feels as though he falls much faster and the animation of the jump arc also threw me off at first. the pill-shaped hitbox effect is the worst here, because you have no long jump to compensate. also the directional momentum works differently, which is why so many people all of a sudden had trouble with the high road.
>Crash 2
closer than to the og than Crash 1, but still noticeably different. with a few exceptions, I didn't actually have too much trouble adjusting. what bothered me much more is how half-assed the warp room and about half the levels looked. and putting in the crash dash for time trials.
>Crash 3
it's still different, but I thought the new engine handled well here, but only in the platforming sections or just half of the game. Vehicles were all completely different, not remotely close to how the og controlled. The motorcycle one in particular was unforgivably bad. Virtually uncontrollably when doing a wheelie. It was as if they based it on someone playing the original with over 100 frames of input lag.

I should add that after a few levels in each game, I was able to adjust to the new engine and still found the games fun. to me, it felt somewhat like playing a well-polished fan game. the only thing that still bothers me a lot to this day is the NST motorcycle, although if there is any silver lining to it, I found that I was able to control the og motorcycle way better than I had before after coming back to it from NST.

it's the same devs who did those awful gba crash vs spyro games

No way. I had the Spyro version and it was the first game I legitimately hated.

>Spyro version
tbf that one is way worse than their crash games. Their two previous gba Crash games were alright. The reason why Spyro feels so terrible to control was they just shoehorned spyro's movement and mechanics into a 2D crash engine. The crash version, while still not quite a good game, at least controlled well enough and his mini-games were more aligned with traditional Crash gameplay.

I remember I had less than five GBA games growing up and I still stopped playing that Spyro game after one session because it felt like a chore.

NST was literally made by Indians.

Irl friends, youtubers, etc. I think I recall Caddicarus saying it years ago and he's the crash guy.

They do feel different and for worse. I didn't even finish Crash 1 on the remaster because it felt completely wrong.

>>10632213
They also did Huge Adventure and N.Tranced and these were good, and the GBA version of Nitro Kart was also solid. It's only the crossover with Spyro that sucked ass.

the motorcycle was the ONE thing I was hoping they would overhaul instead of trying to recreate 1:1, and alll they did was make it fucking worse

Who the fuck told you it's accurate? People were complaining about Crash's non-square hitbox the day it came out.

Both, I'm afraid.

The only thing remotely interesting about NST is the updated graphics. Also note NST is more targeted for those oldfags who grew up with the originals like a piece of memorabilia. NST isn't meant to be taken seriously, just a casual playthrough to see what it would be like to have modern day graphics to an absolute classic such as Crash.

N Sane Trilogy both looks and plays like complete dogshit, it really hurts when I see people who've never touched the originals play those remakes. The originals not only still play like a dream, they are among the most aesthetically pleasing games of the 90s. Sort of off topic but I think that the Spyro remakes are actually pretty good gameplay-wise. But of course the originals' charm was lost

lolno
but the issue was a bit overstated. it still happens to me when playing 1 occasionally, but it's not nearly as big of a deal as say vehicle physics in 3.
