I don't know man, I feel like crt-consumer looks exactly like that retrotink on my 4k display...

>MISTER ISN'T EMULATION
This is a cope used by people who bought into FPGA gaming solely based on surrounding hype and started to regret their purchase later. Those who love and use their MiSTers regularly know that it is emulation and see nothing wrong with that.

The mister isnt even a part of the conversation here, it was only used in the photo to show raw pixels vs the retrotink 4k. I like how this picture can be taken out of context if shown to an uninformed buyer to into making them think the mister can only output an image like it does in the picture vs the retrotink 4k set up to look as good as it possibly can. great marketing guys, really.

I've been reading this board stupidly often for the past couple of years and I still don't know what MiSTer and RetroTINK even are. I had to look up their annoying capitalization schemes just now. I also have never seen a MetalJesus video or encountered an insufferable Earthbound fan. You guys don't have to wallow in all this weird stuff you know, these things we talk about are actually games and you can in fact play them

I recently picked up a CRT again, which is the first time I've owned one in ~17 years. What it's made clear to me is that all these filters and other coping mechanisms are shit. They're an extremely poor imitation of the real thing. I only have some crappy consumer-grade Toshiba CRT, yet stuff looks amazing on it. The N64 in particular blew my mind a little. I'd forgotten just how good N64 games can look on a real CRT, whereas they look like hot dog shit via emulation no matter how many filters you slap on top.

The MDfourier tuned low pass filter in the MiSter core? No input or audio lag? Perfect video and audio synchronisation at the original refresh rate? Speak for yourself, the informed can easily tell the difference.

If you’re still getting sync issues in emulators, you’re doing something very wrong

>> No.10614764

bsnes syncs to either video or audio but not both. The only way to fix it is by using dynamic rate control, which is inaccurate. Even then you will still have around 4 frames of audio latency, absolute garbage.

What am I not understanding here?
I paid 40 bucks for a pristine barely used Wii with controllers and Animal Crossing game inside.
I paid 8 bucks for Composite cables.
I paid 30 bucks for a 27´´ TruFlat CRT
So I paid 10 times less for the real thing.

What am I missing here? Why do I feel ZERO FOMO?

Why do you pay so much to feel like you are poor like me?

I meant Component cables, sorry.

Also forgot to mention, modding the Wii is an absolute pleasure, and the custom software for it is still being developed TODAY.

WiiFlow Lite (WFL) + Rhapsodii Shima SD (released in December 2023) + CRT = HEAVEN

I cannot believe how good this is, the real experience, in real hardware, plus emulation, including up to PSX (almost flawless now), dayuummm... let alone VirtualConsole ports with 240p mode enabled.

I am sorry for your experience, m8.
You should have more fun, which is possible.

I do play SHMUPs using the wired GameCube controller. Basically I play everything with wired GameCube controller, but sometimes use the ProController through the wireless WiiMote.

The GameCube controller is really nice and ergonomic as well.

That's cool but do you need FPGA for an audio filter?

>> No.10616897

It’s just one example of an improvement made by FPGA devs that years later has still not been implemented in software. Yes, you could run that filter in software, but MiSTer is the only thing you can buy that actually uses it.
