Are there any game series where you think a spinoff is the best game in the series? Pic related for me.

>removes boring as sin Clank levels
>focuses solely on what makes R&C games fun (the combat)
>by far the most charm in the entire series
>best side characters in the entire series

Sonic 3D Blast/Flickies' Island.

I'm not joking, having very open levels with more focus on exploration and roaming around was an actually good fit for Sonic and his speed/physics, I had tons of fun exploring thanks to its excellent level design, and going for 100% completion was way more rewarding than in other Sonic titles, as the whole focus in this installments is for collect things anyway, and Travellers' Tales pulled it off.

I'm surprised at how a style of platformer that a lot of people mostly associate with Nintendo, or Mario to be more specific, with things like Mario 64 and Banjo, would fit Sonic as well as it does!

I grew up playing the original and loved it even then, but I'll admit that after playing the DX, it became the definitive version for me, I wish this version had come out in 1996 for Genesis and Saturn, I'm sure that if it did, the reception for this title would be way more positive overall, it deserves more love, it looks, sounds and plays quite well, and exploring the levels is very fun.

If Travellers' Tales had started to work on a 3D Sonic for Saturn from the start, and used all of the stuff from this one, mechanics and levels, but in full 3D, it would've been a hit, I'm sure of that.

I love the Army Men games, but they're arguably pretty mediocre. Air Attack, on the other hand, is pretty great.

Managing your inventory in the village and visiting the Pokemon you recruited in their little habitats is extremely cozy, but there's more.
The main story gets surprisingly intense and has some genuinely touching moments, it's nothing like mainline games.
If you delve deep in the postgame you'll also find some really difficult levels, and not just by Pokemon standards.
It's a very complete experience.

Sonic 3D Blast/Flickies' Island is an excellent time for me and I see nothing wrong with that... we all have our favorites that most people don't like... a title we find to be "underrated" I suppose, that's normal, and in my own case this is one of them.

I know that Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Castle of Illusion (8-Bit) are all beloved for good reason, and Land of Illusion also gets its love here and there for being a sort of Mickey MetroidVania... but barely anyone talks about Legend of Illusion, I mean, I sort of get it, it's a 1995 Game Gear title, and 1998 Master System title thanks to TecToy, believe it or not, crazy...

Also, while both Castle of Illusion and Land of Illusion on SEGA's 8-Bit consoles were made by SEGA themselves, Legend of Illusion was made by Aspect, which are still good, but a bit budget.

It's probably the weakest in the series, I get it, but I love how it looks, sounds and feels, it's the easiest one by far, but that makes it comfortable to play, and that's what Disney's all about to me.
