This shitty gif really doesn't do it justice but I love the look of the savanna level in JP Rampage edition. So many layers of scrolling in the background, running at top speed across it as a raptor it gives such an awesome sense of depth.

It might not be as easy to appreciate today but this was widely considered mindblowing, standard-setting visuals at the time. Like if 4chan had existed back then we'd be posting threads like "What game has the best graphics? Hard mode: no Psygnosis"

Same. It was the first PC game I ever saw and was amazed by the animation.
Settlers 2 wasn't mind-blowing but it sure has some of the nicest 2D art (tied with Anno 1603 for me).

A-Train had these sweet day/night and seasonal cycles. All with simple 16-colors palette changes but it works really well.
