10564320 No.10564320 [Reply] [Original]

It's been 25 years since I played the original US release on PS1. What's the best way to play the game now?
Is the unofficial retranslation worth it or do they change stupid shit?
PC with upgraded graphics or PS1 again on CRT?
Any recommended mods for PC?

CRT with RGB cable on original hardware. It will look like ass otherwise. This shit was BUILT for the BBCRT.

Use the modded PC version if you want to skip random battles.

Comfy little corner you've got there. Thats really all you need for a great video game experience. Though I'd recommend that he goes with either s-video or composite on CRT. With composite the characters seamlessly blend in with pre-rendered backgrounds and you really don't lose that much detail (especially on a CRT that size)

Original translation is actually pretty good, just has an almost laughable number of typos/grammar errors - the later versions fixed this but made the dialog less based

7th Heaven w/ Steam version.
Ninostyle field and battle models.
Pick a graphics update you like, which is easy with 7th Heaven.
Pick a music upgrade, same as above.
Pick one of the New Threat difficulty mods or make your own.

In this case Beacause is the work of some autist lolwcow who doesn't even speak Japanese and just rewrote the dialog wholesale with more swearing and had to be tard wrangled out of adding his oc donut steal into a TRANSLATION PROJECT. >>10564459 sums it up, the original is more fun but has more typos while the steam version is cleaned up but has slightly less flavor. This all said if you wanna play the game just play it, don't worry about typos that'll probably make you laugh anyway.

Midgar was a tiny fraction of the original and Remake ends when you leave. There wasn't summoning materia in this segment in the original and why would there be? I've heard Rebirth wont even have cities you would naturally come across in order. Based on the trailers, it doesn't look like you get far in that game either. I'm not sure how they're going to fit the entire story in three games.
