Wanting to buy pic related (which has some pretty cool minigames btw) at my local pirate games shop when I was like 10 and the dude laughed and said it was for girls, giving me some muppets mario party clone instead
I wasn't even familiar with the muppets franchise and played that shit before bedtime, had some freaky ass nightmare where I couldn't turn off my console

I was playing the cathedral level in Thief II, having not played Thief I and was sneaking down in the basement and picked open a door and one of the haunts, a enemy guy with a skeleton face who moves fast immediately jumped out screaming and killed me and tension that was building from hearing the chains and ghost sounds not knowing what they were while I was picking open the door was enough to terrify me in to not playing for days

I was older than I care to admit

I remember one bit from broken sword that was genuinely bullshit. there's a stolen toilet brush you need to find. eventually you recognize a sprite that must be it, sprite is placed on a foodstand. I try several times to get some kind of recognition of it with investigate and even the primary click, talking to the foodstand vendor, going back and talking to everyone to see if the brush icon shows up in conversation, absolutely nothing. So I have to come to the conclusion that I'm either wrong about that sprite or I'm just not able to interact with the object at that point in time. I spend an hour going down deadends until I give up and look up a guide
>investigate brush at kebab stand
WTF I already did that? turns out you have to investigate the brush during a short idle animation where the kebab guy runs brush across the kebabs, you must do this because they make a joke about the kebab owner basting his meat with a toiletry. for some reason they couldn't deliver that joke with the brush laying idle, the context of it being handled was absolutely essential.
more often than not the reason you get stumped isn't because you were genuinely bested by puzzle logic but rather you missed some scripted trigger.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault. Made by all the original Call of Duty devs and is kind of like a beta version of those games. Typical shitscan quicksave shooter but has some cool missions and good atmosphere.

MOHAA
This mission is uniqe, because there are many well hidden, fast shooting snipers who hits you 98% of time.
I love MOHAA with all my heart, but it really falls down after "Nebelwerfer Hunt" imo
