The most aesthetic videogame ever created but the segments between dungeons brings this game down a notch.

Did anyone actually enjoy collecting the Zora eggs or having to explore every little thing to unlock the dungeon?

Oh you want to go to the first dungeon of the game? You better figure out how restore a fairy back to its full form, infiltrate a childrens gang, go through some secret entrance in the back of town to collect an item for the ownership of a plot of flower so you can fly up to the tower and learn to turn time backwards to save the world from imminent destruction. But then you turn time backwards and you have to plant the senzu bean so you can fly over the secret garden entrance then talk to the talking monkey so the secret swamp entrance opens up. Why is this game like this?

It's not even more aesthetic than its predecessor.

Yes those were my favorite parts actually. Termina felt so much more real and alive than OoT's Hyrule because of that. The sidequests and characters are the main attraction in this game.

This doesn't get criticized enough. MM is full of unfitting music that you get sick of listening to very quickly. This is just one of the many rushed and poorly crafted aspects of the game that OoT is vastly more refined in.

I don't want to partake in this infighting shit that I'm sure Zelda haters push, but yeah OoT is the less flawed, more epic adventure and imo even darker. MM is its own thing and amazin gat what it does

The Zora eggs weren't even a pain in the ass if you had four bottles. You could get every pirate's fortress egg in one go, deposit them and then go to pinnacle rock. EZ PZ
Anyway, Majora's Mask is easily the best looking and sounding game for the N64 and blows everything else the fuck out big time. Very well-made game.

NTA but I liked the music in Majora's Mask so much I put it on my MP3 player in highschool. I also did so with Metroid Prime 2 Echoes.

Can't agree because what remains in memory is mostly very atmospheric music, but if they had tried to make it sound like Double Dash or Sunshine it would have been incredibly grating. It depends on whether you can acquiesce to the trilling Ocarina sound but outside of the towns, the temples in MM sound much closer to Metroid Prime musically, it's a very nice mix of sweet and sour notes.

The stuff in between dungeons was an integral part to enjoying the game. The time system makes it interesting because you can do everything you want in one session and then reset the clock and maybe do a side quest or something else. Or just explore. There was so much to see in this game, though maybe I wouldn't go out of my way rolling aimlessly around termina field as a goron spike ball very much anymore like I did as a kid.

I feel extremely lucky to have played it right around its release when I was recovering from some oral surgery and was prescribed painkillers, and also had several days off from school in a row. I didn't realize how good I had it back then.
Not sure if it's literally the painkillers that did it, but MM was fucking magical and got my imagination going like few games of that time period did. It has a real mystique to it that invites you to read between the lines for everything, whether or not there are any lines to read between. In a lot of ways, MM is like the "good" parts of non-games/walking simulators such as Yume Nikki grafted to the classic Zelda formula, and the fact that it is still so good at stoking the flames of imagination to players of all ages to this very day is a testament to how well it is made.

I think OoT is stronger as a game after replaying them. I use to think it was MM. But MM has too many flaws.
