spyro 2 and 3 have surprisingly good underwater swimming controls because it lets you charge underwater as well. you can also swim regularly with X, but it's slow and not nearly as satisfying.

people really overstate the swimming controls being bad in this, i literally cant remember a single time they stopped me from doing anything. at worst it's a minor inconvenience while you get used to it, which you can do in the literal first world of the game
