I'm torn on the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis, on one hand the 1st model is WAY more iconic and has a ton more personality, on the other hand the 2nd model is so SLEEK... I personally adore the TecToy gray model from Brazil, one of the nicest looking consoles I've ever seen, I wish I had this one here.

The blocky, unappealing design is meant to evoke the pixellated mess of "mode 7" graphics the console was known for. There is nothing sleek about the excessive use of hard edges, which calls out to the 2.68 mhz CPU that struggles and chugs at even the slightest hint of action. The use of off-shade lavender purples and greys not only reminds one of the muted and off-shade colours the console typically exhibited, but also the muffled audio. 10/10 design, it perfectly matches the system!

On another note, it's the same dilemma with the Master System for me, the OG model is the one most people know, and it's iconic, full of identity and character... but the 2nd one, while losing lots of that, manages to feel way sleeker, and it had a gray Brazilian model by TecToy, just like we also got with the Mega Drive/Genesis, though these had more pronounced orange accents to them.

I think you're confusing smooth and rounded with sleek. As someone who almost always prefers smooth, organic shapes, these are not sleek. And I grew up with a Genesis 2.

Well, while my experience isn't too different from yours, and this is indeed a website that requires thicker skin than most, it's still got people that prefer to be more respectful and relaxed even when disagreeing, which is why talking here is still worth it for me aswell.
