Can we get a recent purchases thread in here? I just exchanged my second n64 for this stuff. Left to right, it's Davis Cup Tennis, Warlock, Maximum Carnage, Madden NFL '94, NBA Jam, The Lion King, Wheel of Fortune, Caesars Palace, Monopoly, Vectorman. Not pictured, World Series Baseball and Sonic Spinball,

Got these two at the salvation army and red cross today for $6.

I found the PD box and manual and the cart in one spot and managed to track down the cartridge to a bargain bin at the front, and then found the battery clasp at the bottom of said bin. Was pretty pumped getting every piece after I had assumed some kid had just pinched it. Diggin the rumble-cart even though it's a pretty common game.

The 'twin calibre' big box was stacked at the red cross with the board games. Has some badass manuals and box art, and cd is in perfect nick.

Unfortunately my GB pocket won't play the Perfect Dark..

Today I picked up two genesis games to start my genesis collection - which will be small considering how many other consoles I own - - -
Revenge of Shinobi
ESWAT: City under Siege

Basically I just want action run-n-guns and platformers for the Genesis, since I am not too in to Genesis shmups (when Saturn/DC are much better mostly) or other attempts at RPGs or sports what have you.

The store had Hard Corps, CV: Bloodlines, and Rocket Knight Adventures, but I passed on them because I didn't feel like spending $100+ on video-games.

Also Taito Legends so I can play all the fucking Rastan I ever want to play.

Just got back from a fairly successful day. Got a bunch of real shitty quality Genesis stuff for what seems like a reasonable price. However, I really just got it for the games, and even them most are in really terrible condition (Each one is afflicted with some combination of stickiness, water damage, and belt sander testing). Lots of good games, but I'll probably end up selling the consoles and trying to find replacements for the games (or at least some manuals). Call me a filthy reseller if you so desire.

WARNING /vr/ GORE
Well, I finally got time to open up my 2 genesis consoles I got last weekend for a bit of deep cleaning, and OH SHIT

Apparantly the model 2 here has been occupying a corner of an abandoned hobo shack with a leaky roof since 1995. Thankfully the board itself seems to be unscathed, though I did find half a dead bug underneath (likely dies of blast processing overdose). The case is currently soaking in soapy water, but I don't know what I can do about the metal shields.

Quick rinse and take a wire brush to it? Grind off the rust with a dremmel?

Went to 2 flea markets in my town today.
For retro I got Chuck Rock and a Game Pack 4 in 1 for Game Gear 1 € each

BUT my best find was non retro : I found this little magical thing (pic related) : it's an adaptor that lets you use PS2 pads on a Gamecube (and also works on Wii as you can see)! Not only I had NEVER heard of this thing but the guy was only selling it for 1€, so that was an instant buy for me. A immediatly thought of Resident Evil REmake and 0 when I saw this thing since IMO playing those games with a d-pad (and especially with a Playstation pad) is MUCH better than with the GC pad.

Works perfect with no delay. Really happy about this.

- Pilotwings 64, Indy Racing 2000 and Blast Corps
Only problem is those games were damn dirty (stickers, yellow-turning-to-brown in some parts, trails of adhesive tape) but now they look like new... kinda, since the labels are wasted.

It feels kinda amazing spending so little money in so many good stuff. Around the last 2 months, wasted just 30 bucks on a PS One and a Nintendo 64.

There was some guy selling his SNES (slighly modified for SFC games) in my country for like 15 bucks, but sadly he hasn't answered my e-mails. Maybe he already sold it.

Play the shit out of it man, best RPG I ever played. Found it last year for a tenner, got about 65 hours out of it, great soundtrack, interesting graphics for the time, likeable characters.

Does it have the AC adapter and AV cable?(Those are $10-15 apiece and the aftermarket ones are horrible)

Do the games have cases/manuals, and are there any decent games there?

These are all questions you should be asking. If you're getting a normal model 1 with no cables or only and RF adapter, and 29 sports tiles and Sonic 2, you're getting a terrible deal, and the effort needed to make your experience worthwhile will make it worse.

Provided the capacitors are not blown, then this is a reasonable deal. Sonic 2, X-Men Mojo World and Power Rangers the Movie are all good games.

You can tell if the capacitor is blown if the screen is permanently dark, even on the highest setting, or the sound cuts out intermittently. The only cure is to replace the capacitors, but leaving the system on for 5-10 minutes will warm the system up and get the screen brighter and sound better temporarily.

I was at value village today. They had the fakest looking bootlegs of Megaman Legends and Tekken 3 I've ever seen in my life. Like it was so shamelessly bootlegged. I didn't buy them.

this past weekend's pickups are nonretro (pic related), but i do have a /vr/ related anecdote:

I came across a reseller booth at the flea market that fit the reseller stereotype 100% this weekend. They had rows upon rows of minty looking cartridges, pretty much ALL Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon related with no label damage whatsoever, hot items like CBFD and Super Metroid, and tons of systems, including some very nice SNES and colored N64 units, all lined up neatly, all individually priced to fit the eBay market, most of them sitting in display cases, waiting for their turn to be purchased, but priced too high to be worth it. Disgusting.

It was a video game graveyard, guys. Most of those cartridges will probably never see a loving home again, unless they end up on eBay in the end and some idiot actually bites.

So hard to find first-party Nintendo franchises for cheap lately. I guess I kind of lucked out with some of the titles in the pic, but even still I could have done a bit better (I averaged ~$7.50 per game here).

Resellers are fucking assholes, they completely rape the market to death. They pay next to nothing for what they sell, as well. I went to one a while ago to shift some of my old stuff, and he offered me £10 for 2 Mega Drives, (one was boxed) and a box filled with about 50 games. Long story short, I didn't take his offer, and sold them on eBay, instead, and gave a few away to various people.

I am waiting for this to happen to a scummy pawn shop reseller who "specializes" in videogames as well. I know for a fact he buys stolen merch and merch from underage sellers. I will go and liberate his games for rock-bottom prices when he is taken to jail someday, hopefully soon.

I imagine ther is a store or stores like this in every city: this store of scum and villiany in my area was called MIB NINJA ENTERTAINMENT. every morning before the ownere showed up there was a cop with a list of stolen things that usually were in the store, full of deadbeat ganstas and their spawn, the one thing they did do well was provide competition for another store that resulted in the $5 DVD selections of everything used back in 2006.

R.I.P. MIB fantastic for 360 stolen games and DVD's but fuck you i'm not [paying 20$ for a loose disc of madden 99

How do you guys find such great deals? I've gone to a bunch of flea markets recently and they all seem to want reseller prices for their games. Even the parents seem to drive up the prices.

>> No.1110313

>>1110293
Lurk, and a damn lot. If somebody is selling it at reseller price then ask him for a price drop. If he declines, then don't buy and wait. It's likely that guy will drop the prices time later, or somebody else will offer better prices.

Is funny how I've spended only 50 bucks on a SNES, N64 and a PS One, while some guy was asking for 60 bucks just for the N64 he was trying to sell on the flea market.

pick a system and stick with it, collecting wise.
only break the above rule when its a deal or steal.

this reminds me of my recent swap meet adventure. i see a reseller booth who has Ghosts N Goblins, a game I've been DYING to get. I've been wanting to face the challenge. he had it for 10, and i was ALMOST about to just do it, but I figured "nah". so, I keep walking, and come across a tarp of shit, and in a pile of crap, I see Ghosts N Goblins and a bunch of other filler games (and a camerica one) and ask the guy. 3 dollars each, 2 for 5. I found a Super/Mario duck hunt for 2 bucks. Picked it up because that friend who I bought that NES for (with mario 2 for 25) wanted all 3 mario games, so, there's SOME hope... but still, Mario 2 seems to be the most recognized one. also, might i add that the guy didn't know Mario 2 was in the system, so... hells yeah.

As far as /vr/ related games go, I picked up a complete copy of MediEvil today for $15 today, which isn't bad because I usually never see it available, or on the off chance I do, it's usually $25-30 because FUCKING GAMESTOP has driven out nearly all other stores stocking old games, so 2/3 of the remaining ones feel the need to charge asinine prices because they can get away with it.

On an only somewhat related note, I don't suppose anyone has the color version of this picture?

Had a little extra cash today, so I hit up a few places.

Left the swapmeet with Zelda: Four Swords on the Gamecube for $5 and the following PS1 games for $3 total (all disc only):

>NCAA Game Breaker 99 demo disc
>South Park Rally
>Twisted Metal 4
>Legend of Mana
>Dino Crisis 2

Stopped by the pawn shop afterward and saw Banjo-Kazooie for $5, really happy about getting that one. I've been looking out for the B-K games for a long time now; I never really had the chance to play them as a kid.

Just picked up a Mega Drive Model 1, 3 Mega Drive Controllers, Mega Drive Cables, a PS1 (which isn't reading disks), a PS2 controller, and a weird ZX Spectrum Cartridge for $15 (about 23 - 24 dollars). Might have slightly overpaid, but I'm not too assed, really, can't always get stuff dirt cheap.

Reckon I got a good deal, or not, /vr/? Sure beats buying from eBay, either way.
