Show me your Retroarch ui.

Also can you guys give me advice on how to 'convince' the Mega Drive core (BlastEm) that I use a 3 button controller? One specific game: King of the Monsters 1 only works with the old 3 button layout but since I have a ps3/pc controller I couldn't find a workaround how to make the core 'belive' that I have a 3 button controller since it doesn't react to anything not even the keyboard.

Looks pretty nice and clean. Man I love this xml layout it reminds me of the PS3 PSP ui. It was a sort of selling point to me to install Retroarch in the first place.

Do you guys really like using Retroarch as a hub to launch from?
I did for like the first week after I found it, but then I ended up setting up Steam ROM Manager so I could easily stream that stuff to my living room for added comfort. I've started using Playnite instead recently, and I like that quite a bit. Setting up games through it is way easier than the Steam method.

The games still run on Retroarch and its cores, they just launch from a click in Playnite. I only have to see the Retroarch menu if I need to change a setting for some reason.

Use standalone BlastEm. Or use GenesisPlusGX if you must insist on Retroarch.

I do, it works well enough for me, has all of the settings I need and I know where everything is, so at this point I'm just kind of used to it, which makes it hard to use anything else for me really.

You might also have to change the Color Theme setting to "Background Image" before selecting one.

It's simple really, people here customize their UI on RetroArch for the same reason that even the people that are old, and/or technology illiterate, will change the desktop wallpaper on their PC or laptop, since Windows 95. While there are those that don't feel the need, a lot of people enjoy to give the things they use a little personality that fits their liking for when they use RetroArch's UI.

Well, it is... sort of. It's not really a launcher, as in if you have the standalone emulators already in your PC it'll simply start them up, that'd be more of a frontend, kind of like LaunchBox and stuff, I suppose RetroArch still qualifies as a frontend, but it is it's own thing to, it's essentially a way to have multiple emulators, called "cores" here, on the same software, so if you have no emulators on your PC, if you install RetroArch and go into its core downloader, you'll get options for literal dozens of emulators to download within RetroArch, and once you do, you can have universal settings for all of them, and switch between them seamlessly, which is the whole appeal really, it's also the easiest way to use shaders overall. I definitely recommend it, anon.

No problem, anon! I hope you enjoy it, but if you don't then it's fine, standalone emulators still do the job quite well nowadays. One thing many do dislike in RetroArch, despite the XMB being such a beauty to use, is the amount of settings and all of the submenus, and yes... if you decide to mess around with settings, it might be difficult at first, but if you just want it to work and play, it's fine...

All you have to do is download RetroArch, then go into the Main Menu > Online Updater > Core Downloader, and there you download all of the cores/emulators you want, then after that you'll go on Import Content > Scan Directory and then just select your ROMs folder for it to scan, if you want the XMB, go for Settings > User Interface > Menu and there you select the XMB, and restart.

here's mine.
sub labels are bloat and useless once you know what everything does.
also i mostly skip using retroarch gui by using a frontend that launches games from their boxarts.
basically you get everything perfect behind the scenes and you're done.

http://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.16.0/windows/x86_64/

There's a new feature called Preemptive Frames to reduce latency, if your computer is powerful enough. Note, it should be set per-game, not system-wide.
