Everything is off. Retards like gmanlives didnt even realize its not quake 2 engine anymore, but its easy to tell that its just unity appstore scripts and assets thrown together with the original models.

even if they patch it, the new textures are total garbage and the new UI elements dont even look like theyre from the same game. only played for a half hour so i dont know if they cleaned up some of the more obtuse aspects of the original, but judging from the product as a whole i doubt thats the case.

They seem to be at least aware of peoples complaints but this seems a bit unsalvageable to be honest. I was planning on buying this but I think I'll just go with the original+the community patch. I don't mind paying for a GOOD remaster/make but I really do not want to support the shitty ones.

Maybe i'm misunderstanding. I took this as they're doing what Doom remaster did, it uses Unity but it's not really being rendered in Unity. Probably just for portability with consoles?
Kind of like how EmuVR may be in Unity, but it's still retroarch, they're just plastering it on a texture or something
Please correct me if im wrong, i've been seeing so many "this game uses 2 engines" and it sounds weird to me

Whatever bullshit narrative they're constructing around this is wrong. The ai is also glitched out and runs in circles. This wouldnt happen if it was just a custom visual wrapper over the original.

The keyword being "essentially", he is making the claim he used unity to "write a new engine" instead of the Q2 engine.
The game runs in unity.
And in the end it doesn't even matter, because the game is broken beyond repair now. So maybe he should've not written his own non functional engine in combination with unity but just used the quake 2 engine instead, huh? Because that one is open source after all.
