Anyone like this game? 1 is a 10/10 classic, but 2 has more content

Lunar 3 when????

Story focus but story is silly, combat sucks and encounters might as well be random. Same like most JRPGs

One of my favorite RPGs. Lunar 3 never sadly, Studio Alex is long dead and buried. Unless you want another Dragon Song.
>>10479957
The story is simple, but it's told in a very enjoyable way and the characters are all likable.

Yeah, play Grandia too if you somehow haven't already. A lot of the same staff worked on it.

Low IQ detected. Alex's Sword dance is bad ass

You're wrong about everything but the story being based

Being able to rekt everything with sworddance is pretty awesome

I've only ever played Lunar Legend, which I think I found out years later isn't exactly a favorite iteration. I don't remember how far I got, but I definitely didn't finish it.
I've got a lot of JRPG blind spots, and Lunar is one of them.

>>10479976
So is Grandia. Interesting to hear it shares some staff. I'll have to do Lunar first and then finally play Grandia, too.

there's a tranny that's been working on a translation for the Saturn game for the last couple years, but its just an expansion of the game gear game and really doesn't live up to the first 2

I like it... for the SEGA CD.

Loved both Lunar 1 and 2.
Charming games with likable characters and lots of anime scenes. Even if the pop references feel out of place, I think WD did a good job with the translations.

The way it simplified a grid based combat system into a normal 4 negros jarpig was super cool but most of the bosses could just cheat the system and Grandia ended up a straight upgrade

There have been four Lunar games (excluding all remakes).

i am fairly certain i played through and beat both of these earlier this year and i can't for the life of me remember anything about the second game aside from what i think was the ending being some girl being sad on a space station

I played 1 years after 2 and didn't like it as much.

When I was a kid I emailed Working Designs asking them the same thing and they said they didn't know.

What's the best way to play lunar 1 and 2? I was thinking about playing the PS1 remake but then the Saturn one has an English patch and the Saturn port is usually better for 2D games.

Dragon's Song is not a Lunar game.

Stopped playing a few hours in because JRPGs are a terrible, archaic, boring as shit genre. If they remade Lunar as a 3D character action game, with the same story and characters, I might give it a shot. Otherwise, they're a dollar store JRPG like any other.

>> No.10482770

>>10482759
Yeah for the most part JRPGs are boring crap. They need action. That's the only reason I can go back to Tales of or Star Ocean, but won't touch anything else.

I played and loved Lunar 1 on Sega CD but dropped the PS1 version after only a few hours. The original was endearing in a sweet and innocent kind of way and it felt like some of that was missing somehow. It's hard to put my finger on how exactly.

FMV in the Saturn version looks terrible unless you have an MPEG card and even then it's arguable whether it looks better than the PS1 version.

desu the only thing Saturn has on Playstation is slightly better sound. The PS1 releases have more content

Back in the day, 2006 or so, I was shopping over early internet market places shops and asked for Castlevania Portrait of Ruin and Lunar Knights as games. Some days later store called over and said they were out of Lunar Knights. Asked mom if I wanted to replace it for Lunar: Dragon's Song. Then I had to play over it.

I had already played Lunar Legend on GBA some years before and I thought the game would be good as well. Oh boy, what an awful experience I had. I think I gave up in some unmemorable dungeon.

>combat system trains the player to bodyblock the AI as much as possible
>boss monsters can just walk right though your party and have full screen attacks, negating the only depth of the combat system
