I asked my wife for picrel as a xmas gift... hope she has luck finding it because it seems it's sold out everywhere.

I just bought the Collection on steam and I'm disappointed. I like that you actually have access to a map in the Ocean games now, makes them far more playable, I like that you can save anywhere and the CRT filters are pretty good.
I don't see why we don't have scans of the manuals included, seems like something that wouldn't take too much effort. I wish the "carbon engine" had more stuff free emulators have had for over a decade and I understand that they ahd to remove the pixel faces of the actors on the SNES game but they could've replaced them with look a likes or heck even a pixel art representation for them like a raptor claw for dr. grant, the canister for nedry, the glasses for malcolm etc, instead they just gave us a black pixel square next to the name.
It's also a shame we don't have the game gear version of JP, it's easily the best JP game made for the first movie.

I still hope this sells well for a collection 2 that can include the Arcade games and The Lost World games but I think that's not going to happen

I kinda wanted the Amber colored NES cartridge for novelty sake but forgot about it and missed the preorder. I won't try to get it in the aftermarket, it was already too expensive for what it was but it would've been neat to have.

yo had to buy the amber edition of the SNES game, the snes sequel and the 2 gb games. each amber game had its own card. you'd only get a double if you buy two of the same NES games.
This was before the Genesis games were added to the collection which is why they didn't get the physical cartridge amber treatment if not it would've been 7 cards.

I love the SEGA game. Getting to play as the Velociraptor was tight. The SNES game was fun as well, I really should emulate and beat it one day.

AMIGA version?

>> No.10484403

I loved the SNES JP game as a kid. The open world exploring and collecting was cool, and the first person interiors were genuinely stressful and tense. I never managed to beat it though and the lack of a save system is brutal. I remember my older brothers would leave the console on over night to keep their play through going

You should try the original NES game, it's very similar and very cozy.

The Amiga port of the Ocean JP game looks the best but it's awful. controls are bad, AI is bad, music is bad. awful port.
>>10484403
it's easier playing on an emulator or the latest collection since it includes a map and instant save.
>>10484409
I'd argue this one is the best version of the game, it's smaller scale and more action packed than the SNES version.
I've never played the GB version, is it really just the nes version in black and white?

>> No.10485794

>>10485169
I think NES and SNES JP games are still different games though. I never played the SNES one but while it is also a top down action game, it seems to be entirely different.
Never played the GB one either.

I don't know, not an expert but I'd guess it's flash memory. It also isn't the original ROM it's the modified ROM from the collection so it includes the edits to the rom (but not the emulator extras)

The only good Jurassic Park 1 games are the Game Gear and the Arcade game. Sadly neither is in the collection.
Does Jurassic Park: The Game count as /vr/ now? That game is old as fuck. Never got much hype but it was kino.

The SNES version removes the actors faces from their dialog boxes and replaces them with a black box. Most likely licensing issues with the likeness of the actors but it's lazy to replace it with only black boxes and not some representation of the character like a hat for Grant, glasses for malcolm, barbasol can for nedry etc.
The other stuff like Map or save anywhere are on the actual emulator they use and not the rom so I doubt that's in the repro cartridges.

I just played the GB game the last few days. A casual might think it's just a port of the NES version but it plays differently because of the small screen it actually feels more horror survival than the more action packed NES game. Some sections seem a bit different than the NES version. Then again I haven't played the NES game in a decade so maybe I'm just not remembering.
