10/10 game and the the only very good Zelda-like. Probably helped that Capcom and Kamiya were on good terms with Nintendo so they were less cautioned Okami could resemble Zelda too much

>> No.10454035

0/10 game only held up by its graphics and sounds. A complete slog to play, no sense of fun and even less difficulty. Clearly made by someone who thought pausing the game every five seconds was the most fun part.

I know it's a shitpost but what do you even mean by that? I remember exploring the overworld for hours and unlocking everything while moving like the wind

For me it was when he wasn't worthy of entering the Ark and Ammy, at the end of the day just being a dog on a mission, unceremoniously ditched him

Never got this complaint since it just keeps throwing new awesome things at you, literally new biomes, new villages, new encounters, new mechanics, new story bits. If you love the game, you're happy about that. I would get the complaint if the second half was mostly backtracking and dialogues like in many other games of similar size (most JRPGs)

Tbh it might have been my fault for OCDly backtracking to every town and NPC after something changed. I had about 80 hours on my save and was at the last dungeon before I burned out.

One of the few games that deserve being called a masterpiece on several counts. Almost ecstatic how it combines swift gameplay, puzzle solving and exploration. In Zelda, this would be clunkily using a hookshot and then using an instrument for the wind, far outlasting the time these puzzles actually take solving in your head. And that's ignoring how fresh and innovative the brush gimmick itself was

So what are reasonable ways to make the game a bit more challenging like ignoring heart containers in Zelda? I suppose
>not putting any solar energy in health boosts
>not buying items and selling items you find
>ignoring Issun when he's trying to give you tips
This isn't even artificially gimping yourself because you can use the resources you gain by doing that on other things or save time

I remember getting pissed off the first time I beat the game because I was going for 100% but I was playing blind so I didn't know about the missable enemies in the emperor's palace. They were the ONLY things I missed without a guide and they're practically the only missable enemies in the game.

There's a few other things that are technically missable, like I think the sea serpent has missable enemies and you can't go back there, but you'd have to go out of your way to skip them, unlike the fucking enemies in the emperor's palace that you basically have to go out of your way to find.

>Inaba: Yeah, actually I was at E3 myself and I saw that live with my own eyes. And to be honest, at first I thought, "Those sons of~. What are they doing?! Had we announced it very much prior to that then I would have felt really disappointed as if they were ripping us off, but I think that the timing shows that they may have had that idea before. I don't think that they're directly trying to rip us off or anything. As a creator, I'd prefer that they didn't do that because it kind of takes away some of our thunder. But no hard feelings. I really like Zelda games so I'm cool with it.

That era was tough for Nintendo and bigN had to cope for real when they saw SOTC too. Remember that they went for shit like wii sports and wii music for a good decade after those incidents.
