Is it a sin to replace old Saturn game cases with new reproductions?
I was lucky and bought 20 of those reproduction cases on Amazon, which now seem to be finally out of stock.
I've been using the original black insert from old games (which has the compact disc logo on them) and combining them with the new cases. I have a couple of games I bought brand new, and I can't see or feel any difference between genuine and reproductions.

Never played a Saturn game except like 10 minutes of Sonic 3D Blast nearly 20 years ago. What would you guys recommend?

Dark Savior, Beyond Oasis and Gungriffon.

>> No.10456345

>>10455203
I'll check 'em out, thanks. The box art is cool, but why do these games look so... bad? (Gungriffon excluded)

Wasn't the Saturn supposed to compete with the N64 and PSX? The graphics look like they're an entire generation behind, unless I'm missing something.

Wanted to finally give Tanjou S a shot, but work has been kinda stopping me the last few days.

That was my first Saturn game in the late 90s. Very fun too.

How easy is Saturn to emulate without hiccups?

They are not, the 3DO, 32x and Jag were made around that time and they look like absolute compared to the Saturn.
The Saturn does in fact have games that feel like upscaled 4th gen games but the ones mentioned aren't any of them.

You are missing a CRT playing fighting vipers, vf2, last bronx, vf kids and a bunch of others in glorious 640 x 480 @ 60fps. Thats what you are missing.

So what's the best Saturn controller? No one in my country sells official Saturn controllers, so I have to get one from RetroBit or 8BitDo. I've never owned a third party controller, so I expect something that is high quality and doesn't break by itself in a few years.

In the 90s, a console emerged that was unlike any other. The Sega Saturn was not just a gaming machine, but a gateway to the oniric realm. Its esoteric nature was not immediately apparent, but those who were fortunate enough to experience it back then know the truth.
The Saturn's hardware was unmatched in its time, with a 24-bit graphics processor and a 28.8kbit modem for online gaming. But it was the console's software that truly set it apart. Games like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Radiant Silvergun were not just fun to play, but works of art that transported players to another dimension.
The Saturn's games were not just about defeating enemies or collecting points; they were about exploring the depths of the human psyche. They were about confronting one's own fears and desires, and unlocking hidden powers within oneself. The Saturn was not just a console, but a portal to the dream world.
Those who played the Saturn back in the day know this truth intimately. They remember the way the console's graphics would blur and distort as they entered a new dimension, the way the music would swell and fill their souls with emotion. They remember the way the games would challenge them not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally.
But as time passed, the Saturn fell out of favor. Its esoteric nature made it difficult to market, and its high price tag made it inaccessible to many. The console became a relic of a bygone era, forgotten by all but a select few.
But those who remember the Saturn know its true power. They know that it was not just a console, but a gateway to another world. They know that it was not just about playing games, but about experiencing something deeper and more profound. They know that only those who were able to experience it back in the 90s know about its secret, unlocked powers.

Best option is the brook wingman sd. And then 8bitdo sn30pro for sega rally. And 8bitdo M30 for everything else. Or just import a used saturn pad from ebay japan for $10. If it has to be the retribit saturn controller STAY AWAY from translucent blue. Get the white one. Blue controller is broken.

That sounds a little bonkers. The actual truth is: the saturn was the gateway to play the latest and greatest arcade games from capcom, snk, sega, taito, psikyo and so on for a fraction of the price of the respective jamma boards. It was that simple. A lot of those SS ports have more content, characters, stages than the arcade games.

Because japanese sellers will be cheaper than western scalpers. And usually their used items are in better condition too. If money isnt an issues get the brook / 8bitdo combo on amazon?
