Ever tried introducing retro gaming to your normische friends?

What kind of reception did you get?

Any precautions you think one should take?

Recommended games/consoles?

I mean, if you can get stuff that people played themselves, that usually goes over well. I collected NES and SNES in college (nearly 20 years ago....) and kept my games displayed and it was always a good conversation starter. Guys would want to play Tecmo Bowl, girls would ask if you had Mario Kart because they remembered playing it with their brother. Stuff like that.

You should focus on co-op games and anything really crazy or unusual. Try playing Bubble Bobble or DKC 1 with a friend who likes video games but isn't too big on retro stuff. If you have a friend who is up for anything, try something like F-Zero X or Guilty Gear XX. Those games are really ridiculous but pretty damn deep as well, so either way you'll have fun.

All my friends are the same age as me and grew up playing these games along with me, so it's not really a big deal. I had a couple friends who would occasionally groan about playing old games instead of a new one, but I don't buy modern consoles so they have to put up or shut up and after a few rounds in games they generally remembered why these games are just as they were when we were kids

Yes. Don't force it. Just say you're into retro games, find them fun and ask your friend if he'd like to give it a try. If he declines, forget it. If he agrees, choose an easy to control and understand game and gauge his interest. If he's bored, give up and both go do something else. If he's having trouble, but still interested, then talk with him to find something more to his taste.

People I lived with made fun of me for playing a ps2. Then they played some dumbass tennis crap on it a week or so later.

Everyone else gets bored with it faster than I do. Not sure why I still like retro stuff. I don't think it's that bad

It's easy, I pull out my N64 and put on Goldeneye or Smash Bros and they go nuts.

no one with friends posts on this board.

Everyone around here loves Bomberman, Mario Party, MK and other coop games. If hosting a party, people want to play games together in person and those 90s games does it the best.

I bought Famiclone handhelds for both of my friends, they seemed to enjoy them so this year I bought one of them an SF2000 and the other a PMP IV. One of them is a huge Nintendo fan so she really enjoyed the SF2000. The other I'm not sure played the PMP IV yet. I kind of want one for myself now, probably for Christmas

Personally I think these are a good way to get people into retro gaming. They are also great if you know someone who has kids

All my friends are into retro games too. I'm the one they go to when they want emulators set up or need roms. I rarely show off the Saturn or PC Engine. I just stick with NES, Genesis and N64 when we want to hold multiplayer sessions.

I got my younger zoomer friend addicted to Mario Party 2, and he introduced it to his friends. Now it's a thing we all do sometimes, it's nice.
