anyway, the AI in Super Mario Kart is cheap but it's a great multiplayer game. Most people suck at games too much to ever master the controls. The MK game on GBA is basically the SNES version but better in every way. Both are worth playing but the GBA one is better.

I like the design philosophy of the drift in snes smk. It's a somewhat unwieldy, advanced move that isn't anything more than what it is, a way to cut corners tighter. there are situations where the average player may decide to be conservative and forego the risky sharp turn, there is variety and a give n take. in every mario kart following the drift is mandatory, you must get a boost on every single turn or you're throwing the game. turns are so gradual and the drift is so generous that there basically isn't any obstacle to you using it every single time.

1. Play Bowser or DOnkey Kong. They have good handling, worst acceleratio , but best top speed.

2. Were you playing as Yoshi or Princess? Worst handling and grip in the game. Worst of both worlds and bottom tier. Toad and the other small one have good handling and acceleration but worst top speed and are okay for beginners. I cleared 150cc with Toad in 2003. Mario and Luigi are mid tier okay tier.

3. Grab 10 coins as fast as possible as it boosts your acceleration by 10%.

4. Learn to hop and power slide. Sometimes a quick hop is all you need. Sometimes a proper power slide.

I've been playing through the original two Megamit Tensei games on Famicom, they are games that people claim are torture to play because they don't want to draw maps. The games are really good though, especially the second one.

Great games, have fun. Make sure to keep back up savestates every 30 mins or so because playing the translated versioon you may stumble on game breaking glitches. Also in the second game make sure you always have an inventory slot left, because some enemies drop really important items; but the inventory limit isn't always clear (I don't remember why I just remember that it wasn't clear)
The 2nd game is something I'd like to replay because it's so good and I didn't get the good ending

Yeah, I had to turn rewind on in the first game because the crashing started getting out of hand the further I got into the game. Sucks that the translation never got patched to fix that.
MTII has been incredible though, I just got all the pillars and went to the underworld. Its okay to have a full inventory (22 items) since the game does ask you to discard one if you're full and something drops. My inventory has always been pretty packed since not a single boss yet has resisted Bufurao Stones, so I'm always getting in a lot of free damage and then returning to Shibuya to stock up on more after each boss.
MTII is probably my favorite Famicom/NES game at this point.
