Compared to how barebones DKC1 was in retrospect, yeah.
The GBA remake even fixes the complaint about David Wise not having composed almost any of the music in DKC3.

The DKC games were always trash. Even if they weren't, Kirby's Dream Land 3 came out in 1997 so that would have been the last good 2D platformer.

Fun fact 1: In 1998 my folks gave me the option of buying Final Fantasy 7 or Punky Skunk, and I chose Punky Skunk.

Fun fact 2: Shortly after (most likely before) the release of this ad, Skunks were no longer classified as part of the weasel family, making this ad as nonsense as it sounds.

I quite like the national park aesthetic of DKC3. It feels like Rare threw every gimmick idea they had left at the levels. She me are dog shit, some are fun. Fish Food Frenzy comes to mind as incredibly frustrating at first, then once you figure out the gimmick it just becomes a monotonous level. Game has the best bosses of the series at least. Kiddy Kong deserved better.
