What's your rarest or otherwise most valuable game/console/whathaveyou?

Pic related.

>inb4 not retro

Fuck off it's all I have that /vr/ won't laugh at.

>> No.1041440

Probably Steel Battalion.

>> No.1041449

Probably Harvest Moon for the SNES. I didn't even know it was nearly as rare as it was until some anon pointed it out.

Other than that, Ogre Battle 64 and Tactics Ogre probably qualify. TO usually went for a fairly steep price, but I think it dropped ever since the PSP version came out.

Ikaruga on GC is rare? I have a copy of that.

I'd imagine the dream cast version would be considered rare.

>> No.1041464

The DC version isn't that rare, just fairly high in demand.

Given that it's a Japanese only shooter, it could be a lot more expensive.

Marathon/M2/Infinity with nifty-as-fuck original boxes. Though I can tell you they have been a pain in the ass to pack and transport over the years.

Sorry I don't have my own pic.

Why did they have to ruin the game with the endorsement on it? I can understand that Nintendo has to stamp their seal of approval, there has to be a rating, and the dev wants to stick their logo on it, all of which detract from such a beautiful front, but the endorsement is truly an eyesore.

>> No.1041475

Hmmm, I have a copy of NiGHTS Into Dreams in the box with the controller. Dunno if that's rare. I also got a copy of Kolibri for the 32x.

>> No.1041480

Not sure what's the rarest, but this is what I have:

Dragon Warrior 2, 3, and 4 (NES)
Tengen Tetris
Metal Storm with box
Lunar 1 (PSX)
Lunar 2 (Sega CD and PSX)
Snatcher (Sega CD)
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PSX)
Misadventures of Tron Bonne

I also have an Earthbound cart, but I know that that's not actually rare.

I've owned the game for ages. But this is the first time I've ever read the endorsement.

>Our frothing demand for this game increases

That sounds disgusting.

>> No.1041501

I have a Master System and Final Fight 3 for SNES. The first is pretty common in Europe but not here in the states. FF3 is legitimately somewhat rare.

>> No.1041504

My rarest retro game is probably Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Pool of Radiance. Though it's closer to just uncommon than outright rare.
My rarest non-retro game is some deluxe edition of an eroge VN on the DS only available in Japan, of course.

What's the deal with those being out-the-ass expensive while the first game is dirt cheap?

The first game was published by Nintendo expecting the game to be as big of a hit as it was in Japan, but that didn't pan out. Nintendo gave away copies of DW1 with subscriptions of Nintendo Power. Enix themselves had to publish 2, 3, and 4 by themselves and they didn't make anywhere near as many copies as the first game, and each game less and less copies were made and sold. So that's why they're expensive.

Really? Really! DS (リアリアDS)
All H scenes are removed
Voiceover quality is actually kind of bad. If you know Japanese you can understand them but it's scratchy to listen to.
The PC version is better in just about every way.
Value of the deluxe DS edition is like $40 used in Japan after converting from yen. I don't believe there is any figure for any value in the western market. The original Japanese manga for the game, however, has gone for $20 per volume used on eBay though.

Well my arcade machines are probably worth the most when it comes down to it. As far as weight/value ratio goes it's probably on my Saturn/Sega CD shelf although I've got some valuable systems too - Vectrex with multicart, X'eye, 3DO, CDi etc... Oh and actually I have a pair of Laseractive 3D goggles that are some kind of stupid rarity and I've really been meaning to get rid of them. They're probably the most valuable by weight, actually and that's pathetic considering I NEVER use them and they don't even look impressive on the shelf.

My rarest is a copy of The Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak! I got from my sister when she offloaded her retro vidya collection on me.

It has no name value, the cover art doesn't shove it in your face what the game is all about, and I don't remember any advertising campaign.

So, in a last ditch attempt to convince people to pick it up on a whim, they put in a strangely worded shill from IGN.

Kartia is fairly uncommon. Good concepts and amazing soundtrack. I wouldn't mind another game in that style.

Honestly, you could consider that game to be a spiritual successor to Treasure of the Rudras. Hell, if the setting was different, you could've called it Rudras Tactics.

No, you don't run from enemies. You fight them sort of like how Silent Hill does it, except it can be pretty clunky at times, especially with the bosses. The story and symbolism for some of the bosses, though, is really cool. There are a lot of little quests, if I remember correctly, where you have to look for certain characters or items too.

The best thing about the game, to me, was the story, and how it never tells you too much. You have to really get into it, and unravel things and speculate on the symbolism. There's a website about the symbolism behind RoR that is quite intensive.

Overall, RoR is a great game if you can understand it.
You have to immerse yourself in the story instead of simply playing to win to get the best experience out of it.
