Just got a Saturn specifically for House of The Dead.
what else should I get?

Can we get a thread going about more obscure or games that get less discussion. (Just try to avoid the usual suspects when people mention "hidden gems")

I'm so sick of every hidden gems discussion always mentioning the same fucking shit. Give me the shit that nobody actually talks about.

Can't tell you how many times I go looking for obscure games just to be hit with the same shit everywhere I go
Wii Hidden Gems
>Elebits
>Sin & Punishment
360 Hidden Gems
>Binary Domain
>Lollipop Chainsaw
Moral of the story is I hate that fat faggot MetalJesus and all the other unoriginal fucks.

I recommend Mr Bones. Evil skeletons rise from the dead, and you're the only skellington who has free will, and you're not evil. Most of the levels feature distinctly different gameplay and difficult challenges. And it has all these entertaining fmv cutscenes between the levels. Like there's one where you find a cabin in the woods and there's a blind man inside, portrayed by a live action actor. He's rocking out on electric guitar and you just walk in, as a skeleton, and start jamming with him. It's fucking ridiculous, the game is really entertaining. It's just so soulful, and the levels are super rewarding to complete. I don't wanna be a fag though, it's not nintendo polished and a few levels are frustrating.

not obscure but i don't see them talked about as often
- Touge King the Spirits 2
Car handling can take a bit to get used to (designed for drifting) but the 1 on 1 racing is fun. also has anamorphic widescreen support if you're using a widescreen tv (3rd option down iirc, look for ワイド).
- Virtua Racing
Don't go in expecting a virtua racing port, handling is very different and most of the tracks are new. has a fun career mode. lots of content for a saturn racing game.
- Steep Slope Sliders
Fun snowboarding game. boards handle pretty well. has a combo system but i usually just try and get the fastest times i can with the racer character.
- Puzzle Bobble 2X
Definitive version of puzzle bobble 2, western version is titled "Bust-A-Move Arcade Edition" iirc.
if you can read jp:
- Tengai Makyou The Apocalypse IV
see picrel
- Code R
racing game/dating sim
- Real Sound: Kaze no Regret
designed for blind people, also on dreamcast
- Machi
was popular in japan. visual novel with 8 separate semi-related protagonists. uses real actors and backgrounds. later released on playstation.
get yourself a pseudo saturn kai asap, especially if you don't speak jp

How good is WingArms? I listened to someone that said it was pretty good and bought an incomplete copy for like $13. (And I haven't played it yet since I've spent the last hour reprinting the cover and figuring out the best way to do such a thing for Saturn games.)

I've seen it mentioned here a couple of time but it seems pretty divisive. From what I've heard you really have to play manual and the handling takes a bit to get used to. The thing where you train an AI seems pretty neat.

(Actually played the game now)
My take on WingArms is that it's alright. The first and second level were fun to play, but that 3rd level was so boring I quit and started over. You spend like 8 minutes flying around a maze-like canyon just trying to kill like 4 enemies and it's just excruciating. AND that's only half the mission.

I'll probably try again tomorrow, but damn that 3rd mission was tedious.
