Well, you won't find it but try b.a.t. 1 and 2. They are dystopian cyberpunk games with interesting worlds to explore.

Real life is about to be very close to it, maybe consider becoming a glowie.

System Shock 1/2. I have other recommendations but they're not retro. Basically look into anything that's an immersive sim.

Also, in American Revolt, although the icon shows a pilot's cockpit just think of the Air Raid as a drone strike and it predicted the present and the future of warfare.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is okay even if it's simplified in a lot of ways but I recognized it as a DE game when playing it. New Vegas has a lot of elements from DE1, dunno if any of them used it as an inspiration.

In a distant future when all Deus Ex memes finally die and the game itself is nearly forgotten, people still will be playing the pic. Trust me.

Also I bet Slavs will still be obsessed with HOMM3 even after The Second Coming.

Have you tried DE 2 or 4 (mankind divided)? t. the other poster who said DE:HR was okay and enjoyable. From what I have read about 2 and 4 I'm not in a hurry to play either of them but maybe later.

The game i like most after Deus Ex is probably Fallout 3. So i guess i'd recommend that, even though it's a different theme and has less story, it's has fun exploring and lots of items and stuff kind of like Deus Ex

>immersive sim
Is this the most retarded genre descriptor ever?

>> No.10403632

>>10403616
dunno if that's the most accurate name for it. it's like finding death metal in the "pop/rock" section. that's how they categorize it. these days it's a widely used term to describe that kind of gameplay. if you have a different descriptor, i'm all ears.

>> No.10403670

>>10403632
I know it’s the most common descriptor used for these games, but it’s ridiculous how zoomers call these menu-ridden UI-design nightmares where they tend to undo every single negative consequence with a quick load ”immersive” or ”sim”. It’s just as bad as ”roguelike” becoming a synonym for having to start over when you fail.

FP(S)-RPG
In ye' olden days (00's), this was used to describe Deus Ex (or games in the same vein). And it worked just fine. My best guess as to why im-sim was adopted is because zoomers and (some) millennials want to sound smarter than they actually are when they describe FP RPGs so they use that label.

>> No.10403746

>>10403732
Nta but I searched for the term and it seems to just be pretty wide and overlapping with just playing a roleplaying game https://www.giantbomb.com/immersive-sim/3015-5700/

I admit I like the last bullet point which says "no fail states except player death" and that would also mean no quicksaving and quickloading. Inb4 this game is hated here, but I played thru Heavy Rain the first time this year and I enjoyed how if you fuck up or die the game just goes on. Vague spoilers: I later read that there are some specific sequences you can't fail or where you can't die no matter what but you don't know that the first time playing blind so.

this generation really likes their insular terms that have little meaning outside the bubble. it makes them feel intelligent. personally we just called deus ex an rpg and acknowledged the subversive choice. thief was a stealth game. ultima underworld was a real time dungeon crawler like dungeon master. people were more focused on the games than labels.

>> No.10403773

>>10402776
it's not anywhere near as good as deus ex, but alpha protocol is worth a play if you want a similar game.

the people behind a lot of the games in immersive acks are huuuuge rpg nerds. example, prey has a side quest related to a dnd game the npcs were playing before they were all ack-acked by the bad guys.

Can you taste it anon? Anchovies and stiff socks, musty mildewed mountain dew dripping through a Styrofoam cup. A plethora of jars and pony figurines, Chris chan printed on a flannel bursting at the seems. Ohh it's so serene, what a dream to be a NEET, disabled diabeetus feet, purple lumpy gimpy piggy, sipping on some grease, smearing it across the keyboard before I beat my meat.
