Steel Reign for the PS1. Cool music but pretty difficult in a bullshit way at times. Never seen it referenced anywhere and I've never seen it in person aside from my own copy. Despite being rare it's still pretty cheap to buy.

XIII. I absolutely loved XIII and I never knew anyone else who had it. Since then I never hear anybody talk about it. It's one of my favorite games ever. If I were to do a top 15 or top 20 of my favourite ever, it'd be 13th.

Call of Duty : Finest Hour. Honestly it's as if this game never existed. I go on yhe Microsoft store or whatever and I can buy 2, 3, 4, and all the rest but the first console COD just seems to have disappeared entirely. I never hear anybody mention it either. Its weird because it was a huge deal at the time. They took half of the Medal of Honor Frontline staff, got in decent voice actors and musicians, and made campaigns as Brits and as Russians. It was hype, and now its as if it never even happened.

I absolutely loved this game back in the day (Though I had the DOS version), shame that point-and-clicks don't have much replay value once you know everything to do. It's been a few decades though, I should play it again. Likely have forgotten most of it by now.

Sylvan Tale for Game Gear. I never see it get brought up anywhere, even in the rare occasions there's an actual discussion on Game Gear or a list of hidden gems for the system. I myself even owned a Game Gear as a kid but never heard of this game until way later in the emulation days and I played it all the way through and loved it. Fun little action RPG.

Is it just me or can you take manual control of the ball and walk around sometimes? This game actually looks really cool, I'm not surprised you dumped a reasonable chunk of time into this

Bug Hunt. An old shareware Mac game based on the movie Alien. Part text adventure, part first person dungeon crawler. I spent the past 30 years or so trying to find it and managed to get it going a couple of days ago. It's fucking horrible from a gameplay perspective, but I'll be damned if I don't still shit myself when the alien kills me, which evidently happens a lot.

I never really played too many games that were heavily obscure until going into the 2000s once I started experimenting with emulation and coming across cheap used games. Azure Dreams, Evil Zone, and perhaps to add that I got Evolution as one of my games with my Dreamcast for Christmas in '99. I may have played some more obscure DOS games at a friend's house around 94 - 96 but I don't really remember a lot of their titles now.

I played and recorded SoulTrap for some anon who couldn't get it to work, this was about 4-5 years ago and shit was sparse and I don't think PCem or any forks were as popular so I had to fuck around in Vbox and it ended up a bit janky. Should still be up on YT, though I do forget the game name everytime I bring this up. Game felt a bit schizo, but I had fun as the mechanics mostly worked. It is definitely what you'd expect from a '96 PC platformer though.
It kinda got me into playing entirely random things on entirely random systems too, but I already had the tolerance for it.

Ahriman's Prophecy, a little obscure early RPGmaker creation with neat music and passable everything else. As a kid, I was super invested in the story, which in retrospect was basic af. This series is more known for its sequels, Aveyond 1/2/3/4. Is it worth playing in 2023? If you have spare time and love comfy retro RPGs, then it is! Especially since it's a free download.

Nah, it's abysmal combat sucks from beginning with these damn snakes to the last boss, where it's special attack spamfest between two chars standing next to each other.
Main story is a mess, and only sidequest seemed interesting due to worldbuiliding.

This Robin Hood game. Graphics are hideous, even for it's time, but it is the first open ended game I remember playing with multiple choices. You want to save a guy about to be hanged? Get in a strategic location, fire an arrow and run away. Congrats, you just got a new merry man. Want to see him hang? Sure, just wait and see him die. Want to shoot little John in the face? Nothing stops you. You can still finish the game. Hell, you can fuck up king john at any time and hang in his castle.
