Probably the time to let go of the disappointment that your parents didn’t buy you the right console two decades ago. If it helps, the disappointment wasn’t nothing compared to the two decades of disappointment your parents have had to go through with you.

by the way I made this thread exclusively to see if it gets deleted, if it stays up for a significant amount of time there's a nintendo bias on this bored, n64 flaw threads get instantly deleted because of the cult the jannies are in worship it, but let's see if sony hate gets the same treatment...

The disc read errors / disc drive unreliability were bad.

I refuse to buy OEM consoles with optical disc drives. I feel like they're just ticking time bombs. Cartridge consoles seem like a much safer bet because there are fewer moving parts and no lasers

>> No.10399459 [DELETED]

I made this thread to see if it gets deleted, there's obviously an n64 bias on this board and the jannies instantly delete any thread that criticizes it because the jannies are part of a cult that worships the n64, so let's see if they have the balls to actually delete a thread criticizing a console they hate...

It's leagues better than anything Nintendo ever produced, and the sales figures reflect that.

Went through two fat PS2s, cracking them open to clean the laser every few months. Finally got a slim one when the second packed up and it hasn't had a problem so far, the disc tray even stays shut on its own.

only thing that sucked is that you had to buy a psx memory card, would it really have been that hard to make ps2 cards able to store psx save data?

I doubt it's common these days with the actual mileage put on these things, and how much easier we disseminate knowledge, but I wonder how many of those instances of disc read error back then just needed the fucking eye cleaned.

Truth! The first four revisions all had the DRE defect, every reversion after however was one of the best consoles ever made.

It's probably the best 3D console of all time. It perfected what was being done in gen 5, while having more soul and creativity than gen 7.

I remember bringing over my copy of Crash 1 to my cousin's so we could play it on his PS2 (he never had a Playstation, so he kind of missed out on it's library) and I found that fact weird. It's also strange to me that they don't have crazy big memory cards for the PS1 like they do for the PS2 and Gamecube.

It's weak as shit because Sony always wants to release their console first to get a sales boost and most games are extremely overrated

The few good games got ported to other console right away or later

It's good but definitely overrated as all fuck and basically useless today, yeah

The Emotion Engine chip was a cutting edge GPU for its day. The problem was that Sony wanted to push their weird custom architecture with the PS2 and 3. They finally relented with the PS4.

The PS2 is the only Sony console that ever released "first" and that’s only if you don’t consider the Dreamcast part of the sixth gen. Retard.
