Last time I got all the way to the end of zora's river but zelda's lullaby didn't work so I had to go back so the owl could tell me to play the song and then after that it worked

You genuinely aren't missing out on much. TP is just a whole bunch of shit other games did better and nothing else, and anything interesting that would have been optional in any of the other games instead becomes a forced event in its main quest.

SS and WW are more imaginative game, but each of them is very flawed and contain the most forced bullshit of anything in the series.

There's some fun cheats to fiddle with (hookshot any surface, every wall is climbable), a built in randomizer, fully customizable controls/HUD, the ability to use the Dpad for items/boots/tunics, and my favorite thing is using the high quality models for dropped items.
Like you know the fancier looking rupees you get out of chests? You can have those spawn in the world.

You can also adjust the speed of climbing ladders/vines, and the speed of block pushing.

I really love Majora's Mask but one really big nitpick I have is the whole "searching for Na'vi" thing. There are at least a million other ways to have Link end up in Termina that would have made more sense

Ocarina of Time ended with the idea that Link and Navi are parting ways on good terms with a mutual understanding, and that despite being back in the body of a child, Link is now unquestionably an adult and will be fine. Majora's Mask basically retconned that aspect of the ending to begin its premise.

Been a while since I finished Ocarina of Time, but the idea that Link might find himself lost and uncertain after the events of the game allows for a lot more depth than "he's a little man now". Feeling the lingering significance and changes of adulthood, but suddenly being in the body and mind of a child again, is not going to be easy, especially after that "adulthood" wasn't something you were allowed to grow into. Even without Majora's Mask, that's probably a horrific and confusing experience. I can imagine there being some lingering maturity and desire to be alone after it, with Navi parting ways in light of that. But doesn't it make sense for Link to become scared and lonely again once realising that he still truly is a child?
