Isn't it about time you paid your old town a visit, /vr/? Don't worry, I'm sure your buddies won't judge you for your long absence. In fact, I'm sure they'll be stoked to see you again after all these years. I'd go and post results, but my copy and memory card are in another country altogether. ;_;

I only play AC with girlfriends, and right now I'm single, so. Can't wait to get a new one and make her make a new town and go explore it.

>> No.10395583

I wish I never sold my copy and e-reader and card collection, to be honest. I cannot get into the new games because all I see is the time investment. On the GameCube version I think I played it for so long because I set a goal for myself, which was to get all the NES games. AC is inherently interesting in that way, because you have to make up your own goals like in real life. Sure, you can work towards paying off the house with bells and then upgrade but that's only temporary. You constantly have to come up with goals.

God its so refreshing compared to the walking talking anime clichés in the sequels

I want to rebuy Animal Crossing, it's not that expensive but I'm being autistic about whether or not I want to find a copy that has the memory card too. It's just a dick-ass 59 card with a sticker on it and people drive up the price of the game by like 20$ for it, but it'll tickle my autism to have a copy of a game that says MEMORY CARD INCLUDED on the package and then to not have the memory card.

Buy an empty box + memory card then pirate the game

Cube AC is a fun "consequences of time travel" simulator when you start dicking around with the date settings.

>> No.10396954

I could never do it. I mean sure I tried time travelling with the Gamecube game just to see how it would work but never again. It defeats the whole purpose and ruins the "magic" for me I guess

Honestly, for being Ninty and AC then the $20 more doesn't seem too bad. Never forget there were people paying like $200 for villagers and people were just spoofing amibos and making thousands a week selling them. It could always be a lot more than $20 with anything Nintendo.

I love old AC to death but someone really needs to make a modded version that gives you control over your villagers. I hate the fact that losing my kino characters is completely up to chance and more a matter of "when" than "if"

Wild World looks so comfy but I didn't get into it since it came out when I was a teen getting into edgier games. Is it fun to return to or did the DS limitations make it boring? I remember being annoyed that I couldn't run around asking for errands anymore.

it should have been online. PSO was online...
Remember when Iwata teased that on wii you could go to sleep, and your friends could stay in your town and mess with it and you'd wake up to the changes? Still hasn't fucking happened. They way they tried to incorporate all the communication features regardless is charming in a dumb nintendo way, and really that's the whole core philosophy but it just leaves you feeling isolated in the end. It's a sad game. MMO features that leave you hanging, it should just be on pc already. But if someone did an indie version it would for sure be the gay sims style stuff of the new games

>your friends could stay in your town and mess with it and you'd wake up to the changes?
That's so antithetical to the series' current design it isn't even funny. People you invite to your island in NH can't even interact with anything anymore

>But if someone did an indie version it would for sure be the gay sims style stuff of the new games
Literally the only thing people want out of fangames for this series is the ability to fuck the animals. Like that's always selling point #1 to any spiritual successor discussion (and the only selling point). People who want a neighborhood sim are just a non-existent minority.

>> No.10399009

you’d probably enjoy the latest game in the series then. You play more like god of the island with terraforming the land itself, furnishing the villager’s interiors and deciding where exactly you want their houses placed

I have played a lot of New Horizons and that's exactly why I'm so spoiled by the fact that my villagers won't move out without asking first. Wish someone would retrofit that into a hacked version of the GC game.

i just opened my copy of wild world after not playing it for a year. half my village moved out and i had some new faces to introduce myself to. had a shit ton of weeds i had to pull out too but i think im back on track again i played my copy of wild world more throughout the past 2 years than i have new horizons kek

>> No.10400425

its kind of tough to recommend because i got into wild world as a kid and when there were dedicated forums to find literal strangers to play all day with (2000s animal crossing community was SOUL).
If you're into playing animal crossing without having to turn on your tv etc. then its good and very convenient (I find myself opening up my wild world copy for a few minutes at a time when I need a break from schoolwork) but at this point if you have a gamecube/wii just play the og gamecube version for the single player experience since some aspects of wild world are cut off without the wifi/thriving internet community to access anymore.
