I remember the reception to Witcher 1 being that it was pretty mediocre and janky. Plenty of people liked it but I would never say it's a classic. It has a good story but it plays like a single player MMO.

Witcher 2 was kinda better but still just wierdly mediocre in gameplay. They didn't figure out how to make the gameplay as engaging as the story until 3.

I riked the combat in 1 better. It made perfect sense to me that a superhuman warrior will be making most of the work while his human player shouldn't be fast enough to follow his moves. They're almost completely different and 2 is one of the worst cases of CRPG goes console, completely destroyed 1's intuitive UI on PC, replaced something down to earth and authentic with a generic fantasy world that's linear and has barely anything in it. I just continued, then found myself in one of the comfiest medieval towns with NPCs coming in all shapes and sizes and then I was hooked. Helped I played TES games before and noticed how generic NPCs are in them. Literally no particularly fat, old, tall or small people. There is a Skyrim quest that wants you to find a big strong guy and he looks like everyon else

This game has a good lore and setting purely because of the novel it's based on. Other than that it's pure Slavjank of the bad variety, not the good variety like HoMM, Stalker etc. CDPR didn't know what they were doing yet at this stage.

Same deal as Morrowind where a bunch of fags pretend to like it because it's fashionable but I guarantee you if it wasn't, they wouldn't ever play past Balmora because they had no clue what they were doing and a fucking kwama killed them because their sword missed 6 times in a row. I played the shit out of Morrowind when I was 13, but I don't let my nostalgia cloud the fact that it was kinda fucking ass and the only reason I still enjoyed it is because at the time there wasn't anything else.

I don't understand what your problem is, it's a PC game made of a keyboard and mouse and works fine(3 types of camera) and is more responsive than W2 for example. What I remember when someone said janky it's Gothic, absolutely bizarre controls adapted for a gamepad but never worked with it.

100%, it was too big with too little going on, and the scaled loot system made exploring kinda pointless unless you were high level. The Ciri parts were trash as well.

Also, in 1 I sided with the scoia'tael, in 2 I sided with Iorveth and the scoia'tael, in 3 they barely fucking exist, yet Roche gets a whole sidequest.
