which's your favorite game? for me it's RoL and its sick lore. also, post any lore-related questions you may want to get answered.

>> No.10390819

I just tried the first game but holy shit, that encounter rate is bad. Are the later ones better?

In Lufia 1 you're supposed to use Smoke Bomb items to make enemy encounters go away when you really want to avoid them.

>> No.10390838

Lufia 2 was the first game I cried at, which is kind of embarrassing but I know 4chan would understand about crying alone as a small child.

>>10390838

It's okay. I'm crying right now.

Isn't 2 the only good one?

>> No.10390863

>>10390853

It is. It also features that roguelike dungeon, which can be a separate game in its own right.

>>10390819
yeah. the enemies are visible on-screen, so you can easily avoid them. although ruins of lore's enemies are sort of annoying, since they always run fast as hell and are quite good at catching you.

Some people swear by 3. I've not seen anyone recommend 4, but it was at least okay. 1 was also a pretty solid JRPG of its era if you like JRPGs.
2 is indeed the best.
I also quite liked the 2 remake.

no? TLR has a nice story and interesting combat. ruins of lore has sick lore and character building autism. curse is quite fun too despite being short in duration. the only shitty game in the series is the first one.

Even then it’s still pretty brutal. The boat encounter rate outright made me drop the game.

Oh shit, is that Lore anon from the thread a while back? Really enjoyed your breakdown of Ruins of Lore, shit was really interesting

Do you have any thoughts on what Ruins Chasers on the PSX? Did bits of it make it into TLR and Ruins of Lore? I swear I remember one of the old JP promo pamphlets namedropped Zalbak, so I've always assumed Neverland were using TLR to set up some stuff for Ruins Chasers

Lufia 1 is great

Man, I fail think another jrpg that had an intro a good as Lugia 1. Even the music playing during that part is amazing. But I don't like Lydia 1 that much, it checks the most barebone definition of a frog and that is it. 2 is an amazing game, however.

Fuck I hate phone. It should be Lufia instead of all the shit that appeared there. As for the rest of grammatical mistakes, fuck this phone shit.

zalbak was never mentioned in any promo info for ruins chasers. what was mentioned was the "fire cross" one of the main plot points.
well, zalbak seems to be what the "fire cross" from ruins chasers was supposed to be. the fire cross was supposed to have suddenly appeared one day, rained down fire and destroyed most of civilization, just like zalbak did when he fused with erim.
as additional info, zalbak's name did get changed for some reason. he was named balzak.

>> No.10393973

>>10393938
so the fire cross concept may have evolved to zalbak, or perhaps zalbak was originally meant to appear in ruins chasers playing a larger role.
ruins chasers seems to have evolved into both TLR and ruins of lore. but it actually seems to have been "finished" as ruins of lore. i say finished, because holy hell is ruins of lore not super unfinished!?
did you know dual blade is in fact in RoL? the whole bau situation; the gate to goldiark's birthplace; the lack of credits; etc. i'll detail next how some concepts of chasers became things for RoL

>> No.10394007

>>10393973
first. chasers was all about a race against time for retrieving "naki" before the orcus cardinal did. this is somewhat similar to how eldin's party is on the chase (heh) for goldiark's remains against ragule's forces.
this gal, naki, was a key point to the story of chasers. sadly there's nothing more known about her, but it seems she was to be used as a weapon by orcus in order to become the rulers of the world. the booklet is super vague about this; it mentions something about a "sacrifice" by orcus, in order to thriumph over something.

>> No.10394023

Never played RoL. Did I miss out on anything?
Played the shit out of Lufia 2 and its remake, as well as TLR. Only beat Lufia 1 once, probably never will again.

>> No.10394061

>>10394007
next, there's the protagonist of chasers, zion. he did evolve into seena for TLR; his whole gimmick was basically recruiting people he met to embark into a "great adventure" for finding doom island. however, another side of him seems to have evolved into eldin. he appears to have been an orphan, who grew with cecil, his childhood friend (also an orphan). he also was fascinated with becoming an adventurer of renown just like his ancestor, maxim. this mirrors how eldin was fascinated with becoming a hunter just like his adoptive father, and how he grew with someone who never got to meet his parents (torma).
>>10394023
do you enjoy building characters? RoL is good at that. but the game itself is quite tedious and requires some patience to be enjoyed. it has really good lore though, which, although poorly explained, ties several loose ends on the series.

>> No.10394194

>>10394061
speaking of TLR, here's also something which was definitely born from chasers.
you know how you jump between the four continents, and the game ensures to remark this by giving them unique musical themes? this was born from the alleged progression of chasers. the main plot was all about exploring what remained of the fire cross, which, when sealed by orcus, revealed a path to a place where four great ruins stood.

Thanks anon - I've always been very curious what the story in Ruins Chasers was supposed to be, and your analysis of Ruins of Lore is really interesting. I really should play it.

I do know the scenario writer for the series, Masahide Miyata, was asked about Ruins Chasers a few years back and commented that he would still like to make the game and he still has the script for it on his PC - Posts like these make me wonder how much of Ruins Chasers already went into TLR and RoL

On another note, which is your favorite game and girl in the series

>> No.10397191

Just started Lufia 2 but I got overconfident and didn't save before the first real dungeon, then I died to some mushrooms...don't feel like doing the tutorial again right now but maybe tomorrow.
