It's OK
People really go out of their way to pretend it's some amazing classic, especially the N64 and Dreamcast versions but I think it's because both consoles are starved for titles, in the case of the DC it's titles that are mainstream friendly uguu~.
This goes hand-in-hand with shit talking literally every other version, PS1, PS2, whatever else is out there. Honestly it's all the same game. If you like the Nshitty-four version, you already like the PS2 version, except the PS2 version is improved so you like it more. Pretending otherwise is just pretense for weird fags.

I think it's fine but I don't care much for the focus on set piece designs that mix up the scenario, instead of having strong core mechanics and levels it fartily drops you into a difficulty reset so as not to stir you up too much and gently wafts you along. It feels like there's not much room for expression or mastery, which holds the game back majorly.

Fairy Glade is different, for example on the PS1 version you have to stop the machine from polluting the water so you can dive in and progress, you dont do that on the original, the swamp section near the first pirate encounter is also lacking on the ps1 version and you can get all lums in one run whereas the og you need to go to echoing caves to get the missing ones
Marshes of Awakening doesn't have the entrance to the Cave of Bad Dreams and its missing the 3 lap around the swamp, instead you go straight into another zone.
PS1 version lacks sanctuary of water and ice, instead it combines whale bay with astral slide (Whale Bay is also missing a good chunk of the og level)
Menhir Hills has another shell riding section (the one before you meet Clark) and the final riding part is much shorter too
On Iron Mountains dont even get to escape from the robot or make him kick those rocks that have lums under them
There's more changes but to name a few you have Sanctuary of Fire and Stone, Echoing Caves, Prison Ship and Tomb of the Ancients are somewhat different (usually much shorter except for fire and stone).
On PC/DC the game also runs far better (60fps) and Rayman also controls better, in the ps1 version he takes like half a second before he starts moving which is annoying, I had to press the strafe button or the shoot button first to avoid that.

PS1 version has a bunch of levels cut and shortened, 200 less lums, missing content (like the golden fist powerup and minigames). It is pretty unique though and worth a try for the 2D beta demo and better final boss, but worst overall.
Best is probably Dreamcast or PC (I've only played the former but I hear good things about the PC version). There's an argument for the PS2 version (Revolution), that adds an open world map instead of the level select screen, personally I think it just clogs the game a bit, I would say play DC/PC first, PS2 if you ever want to replay it and PS1 if you ever want to replay it again quickly. From what I gather, N64 is a worse PC port, DS is a worse N64 port, and 3D is a worse Dreamcast port.

N64 version is just as good as the PC version if emulated, what prevented it from being really good on the original hardware were the frequent framerate dips.

DS version is even worse in this regard, I consider it unplayable on a stock DS. It can be improved by playing it on an unlocked DSi and overclocking the CPU to 133MHz instead of 66MHz that games without DSi enhancement run at, but playing it with D-pad is pretty painful nonetheless. The analog slider on the touchscreen were actually meant to be used with the thumb stylus accessory included with the very first DS models, but barely anyone has it nowadays and those touchscreens are only becoming worse with age.

Rayman 3D also suffers from bad performance, but once again that can be remedied by playing it on a New 3DS/New 3DS XL/New 2DS XL, overclocking the CPU and turning on additional cache. The physical analog slider also makes playing the game much more comfortable. So I wouldn't say this version is especially bad.

I'm not a "PlayStation hater". I love PS1 and PS2 and I love Spyro games that came out on those systems (except Enter the Dragonfly, yuck). Rayman 2 on the PS1 is objectively the worst home console port of the game. There is no reason to play it if you own a PC. Look at the year of upload, dumbass. Whoever posted it probably recorded it on a Core 2 Duo PC running Windows XP, frame drops are nothing unusual.
>>that awful boring """""""""""""""platforming"""""""""""""""
Why are you playing platformers if you don't like platforming?
>>still 1% damage when hit
That damage carries over between levels, so it's not as forgiving as it sounds. If you die completely you have to restart the level with only around 1/3 of the health. Rayman 2 is still a much harder game than 3 while not being as hard as to make it inaccessible to a large number of people as 1.
>Do you really want me to make 10 more webms of the Dreamcast version?
Yes, because then you'll actually enjoy it. I know because I've played through the Dreamcast version again this summer and it's just as good as I remember it.

Well if you want me to take you seriously that'd certainly help so yeah, I want that.

Look Rayman 2 is visually aesthetic, it sounds great, it has neat puzzles and good characters.

However the gameplay is not quite that fun for some reason and it's just a bit boring sometimes. It's also fairly easy, but I'm not sure upping the difficulty would have made it better. Collecting all the lums is more an exercise in autism than anything else.

So a good, likeable game with its flaws.

Never played it because the character looked so half assed

Still don't want to

No offense
