I am about to start playing Banjo-Kazooie on my PS Vita. What is your favorite level in the game?

I don't really remember THAT level. They were all pretty comfy and did what they tried to do well

Great game

it was a Banjo-Tooie screenshot I saw on /v/ I liked. I just got to the end of Tooie and I am rip roaring to jump into the other game

Last I checked, vita’s emulation on N64 games was pretty bad. Did a new emulator come out?

DaedalusX64 is at version 0.6 with nightly builds. it plays a lot of N64 games now. it can run Donkey Kong 64 slow, like 20fps ish. Those Ocarina of Time romhacks everyone liked too. Diddy Kong Racing.

The gloomy atmosphere of spiral mountain in Tooie has way more sovl

You know what I'm prepared for?
*takes you by the shoulder*
Not having to split up characters and return to the other character.
Not having to return to humba wumba's tent before I can leave the level.
Not getting an ability in a later level, that I don't even use in the level I got it in, and having to go back to a previous level and use it.

Jolly Roger Bay. Love the music.

That sounds fun. I should look up how to do that with my Vita.

Honestly, I don't really mind those things. I like splitting up, finding out how to do things as the bear and bird separately was a lot of fun for me.

Going back to Wumba's wasn't ever something I considered bad either. I assume it was more of a technical choice considering how the transformations worked in the first game? Since there are several situations where you take a transformation to a different level through some kind of secret exit. It's been years since I've played the first game though, so I might be forgetting if that happens there too.

Getting abilities in later areas and having to backtrack is something that has never bothered me in any game, actually. I love the feeling of finding something, realizing I must be missing some sort of key element, then having that "aha!" moment later on when I get a new item or ability.

Rusty Bucket Bay. It’s supposed to be a platforming game and that engine room’s pretty the only part that felt like one.

My favorite level is Grunty's Furnace Fun. I just love the idea of being quizzed on your knowledge of the game and I think BK did a fun job of it. I can think of a lot of games I know well enough to where I could have fun answering trivia questions about them.

If you're gonna force me to pick a real level then Freezeezy peak just because it's so damn comfy, even though it's probably the shortest and easiest level in the game after Mumbo's Mountain. I like Click Clock Wood too for the same reason but if you're stuck in there trying to find like the last 4 notes you missed it goes straight from comfy to living hell.

The only level I don't like is Bubblegloop swamp. It's not really offensively bad in anyway but having to do Crocodile Banjo clean-up is a damn chore once there's nothing else left.

That's a picture of Banjo-Tooie, the sequel.
Treasure Trove Cove is obviously the best.

>I like splitting up, finding out how to do things as the bear and bird separately was a lot of fun for me.
yeah don't get me wrong! I loved splitting them up and doing the stuff they do separate. I feel similarly to it that I do Donkey Kong 64, that the tag barrel/split up pad, kinda changes the the entire game you're playing. There's like five games in one, and you use the tag barrel to switch between these five interconnected games. The split up pad is like switching to a different game, there's like three different ones in Banjo-Tooie.

I do enjoy splitting up, I really like Banjo's special moves and would have enjoyed a whole game dedicated to him solo. However I prefer if I could split up anywhere and rejoin anywhere, or at least let me leave the level solo and they automatically rejoin. Banjo-Kazooie had it right the first time, you can leave when transformed, and there's even something to do directly outside a level as the transformation, and you will automatically revert back when you put distance between you and the level.

Freezeezy Peak is also cozy I guess

OP here, the game ran fine but the emulator crashed so I might just play it on PC. booooo

>> No.10340523

>>10340241
Yeah that could be fun if you could split up anywhere, but potentially harder for the level designers because Kazooie could get WAY more height on the spring pads and Banjo had that weird unintended double jump trick that you can already use to get into plenty of places you shouldn't be.

>> No.10340572

>>10340523
I doubt it's unintended, it's just a cancel for the pack whack mostly. It's in the official player's guide. I think it's just an advanced technique that people write off as a glitch.

Freezeezy Peak is such a frustrating level, bros. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but everything to do with the christmas tree sucked, and I will just admit that the race filtered me. I cannot beat that shit.

I am on Rusty Bucket Bay now. I really enjoyed Clanker's Cavern and Monster Mansion.
