Been tempted to pick up and play Baroque for a little bit now. Initially I was going to play it on the PS1, until I found out that apparently it’s a port from the Sega Saturn of all things. Everything I’ve looked up online recites claims of the PS1 being the “worse” version, but personally I like the aesthetics better from the screenshots and comparisons I’ve seen.

Are there any actual significant changes that would warrant playing Baroque on the Saturn over the PS1, or is it all just visual changes?

no, the ps1 version is significantly harder and has a haphazardly thrown in bonus section. it goes way beyond visual changes. saturn version is the way to go. dont forget to use the items you pick up. if you can only play the ps1 game (or just prefer it) i still recommend it, very highly unique and ethereal rpg. but yes saturn is definitive here for gameplay purposes.

Ps1 version is shit compared to saturn. A lot of missing graphics, worse audio quality, runs shittier/looks worse.

You could play ps2 version, just make sure you go into settings and set it to classic/1st person instead of 3rd.

Saturn version runs at 12fps lol. There is no way you can justify it only because you think the lower color depth and resolution on the saturn make it magically more deep or in any way intended. If it was the devs would preserve that trash look on the psx but they didn't and put more effort in optimization.
