Was wondering if we could talk about Flash Carts, specifically Everdrive considering that I'm thinking about getting one for my Genesis

Is it really worth plopping down a huge amount of money for one?

>> No.1031754

I just spent 80 dollars on two EZFlash IVs, what the fuck did I do that for.

>> No.1031762

If you want to play those MEGA R@RE!! Games on your humble old console without paying stupidly high prices
"Yes"
Also ROM hacks

>> No.1031768

Im getting the everdrive nes but I dont know if its worth it until it arrives.

I have a cycloDS and an easy flash iv, and never needed to buy another handheld game (except for pokemon)

Did you get your EZ Flash IV before or after the market fell through?

>> No.1031775

I have the N8 everdrive. The things works great, so far I found two games which wont work.

Castlevania 3, Abadox and Action 52. The Jap version of Castlevania 3 works fine, wasn't hard finding a translated version as well. Hacks also work fine so far.

Apparently abadox and action is supported if you bother changing the mapping or something. I haven't looked at details yet, just playing.

If you have questions then ask away.

Weird how Castlevania 3 doesn't work. The japanese version is the one with the special chips, so I don't see why the US one would have trouble working.

I spend about $135 on an Everdrive 64. I already had almost every game worth playing but having everything on one cart that I could just leave in the system is great.

I would like to get a SNES flash drive but the sd2snes is like $200. My snes collection isn't quite as complete as my n64 one but I have most of the classics but I feel like I still need to get a pvm screen first. To bad I'm too broke for any of that ;_;

Isn't the super everdrive cheaper than this?

>>1031782
No idea what's happening there but it is what it is. In the end I still play if I choose.

Saves work fine without need of reset first. I haven't bothered with disk drive games.

I do like playing some of the GCCX games. Binary land was awesome fun.

I believe so but I think the sd2snes supports more games. I haven't looked into it in a while though.

sd2snes does have more game support than the super everdrive.

The super fx chip support is currently being worked on.

That game hurt my eyes, not thats its bad looking its just the backgrounds look so bad when they try to put loads of detail in

When I got mine a year and a half ago they were less than $20.

Super ever drive features:
32Kb FRAM for game saves (no battery required)
Save RAM data can be stored and loaded from the SD card
Game ROM can be loaded from the SD card
Max supported ROM size is 48Mbit (6Mbyte)
SD/MMC cards supported
FAT16 support - 2GB max partition size
Supports both PAL and NTSC systems
USB port for developers (optional)

SD2SNES Features:
SD/SDHC/SDXC support (tested up to 64GB; no exFAT support so SDXC cards must be reformatted using FAT32)
High quality push-push memory card slot
Fast ROM loading (~9MB/s)
Fast menu navigation
Directories are sorted automatically, no need for FAT sorting tools
High resolution menu (512×224) for adequate display of long file names
Real Time Clock
Supports ROM size up to 128MBit (96Mbit actually implemented)
Automatic near-time SRAM saving to SD Card (while the game runs). Some limitations apply:
near-time saving is switched to periodic saving when a game is found to use the SRAM as work RAM.
Automatic saving is disabled when MSU1 is used. SRAM is saved on reset.

Enhancement chip support (see below for implementation status)
SuperCIC key (SNES CIC clone):
enables operation on unmodified consoles of all regions
supports software 50/60Hz switching on SuperCIC enhanced consoles only (to be performed by sd2snes firmware, not yet implemented there)
Auto region patching: eliminates “This Game Pak is not designed…” messages regardless of 50/60Hz setting

Enhancement chips

Each supported enhancement chip can be used in conjunction with MSU1.
Implemented:

BS-X memory map / Satellaview base unit registers (clock)
DSP1 / 1b
DSP2
DSP3
DSP4

I know, they went a bit overboard on the scenario details, as gorgeous as it may look it makes your eye drag too much and is disorienting while moving around. I've yet to go anywhere of significance on the game for the same reason it just tires me.

save states? How easy is to save games like zelda? have you noticed any performance issues?

can I create a folder called 111aaa that holds all the games I WANT to play and then "Other Roms" for the entire library?

>> No.1031881

>>1031857
I don't think this thing supports save states. Regular saves work fine.

You can create any folder you wish and place roms where you please.
Pressing left or right scrolls the pages.
I have everything organized by first letter.
