Definitely the 4 people multiplayer sessions.
>mario kart
>super smash bros
>conkers bad fur day
>goldeneye
>perfect dark
Literally infinite replayability. Really feel sorry for Playstation kids.

I would say the first day we got it and hearing the soundtrack for Wave Race 64. I still think about the good times whenever I’m on the screen before the start of the race with the piano and the ending with the glassy synth notes.

I’ve got way too many hours in both, but CTR is still the peak of the genre, so PC kids won there. I also enjoyed Crash Bash with four players despite its reputation.

My friend was playing Pokémon Snap and I went into the bathroom and I came back at the exact moment professor oak says "welcome back". This made my friend burst out into full on retard laughter for about 30 seconds while I stood there confused.

I probably have better memories but this one is more innocent and wholesome than the others

There are so many. The first year was full of bangers. I did it all. Got all the games first day, played all the multiplayer games 4 player during sleepovers. It was magical. I want to go back.

Yup, N64 was so great for multiplayer. Don't forget Turok 2. We used to do players versus raptors too, where two players would be raptors and the others would be regular players.
Smash Bros was the kind of game, though, that was always up for play. If someone says "You wanna play smash?" You'd say yes, every time. 1v1, 3 for all, 4 for all, 2v2, it didn't fucking matter.

Playing Goldeneye and MK64 with my friend who had the console since I was a PS1 kid.

I played the shit out of F-Zero X later but emulated, so not many memories besides that.

I didn't get to play CTR until many years later when it got re-released, and I played it with my best bud who is also a huge Crash fan. Well god damn was I blown away by how good it was. Mario Kart 64 is cool and all and I played the hell out of it, and I really liked Diddy Kong Racing a lot as well for its variety, but CTR blew them both of the water for me.

Maybe somewhere around 2007 when I was finishing Majora's Mask for the first time. I was doing the Stone Temple and I remember doing it all in 1 go, not looking at any guide or anything. I got all the stray fairies, too, and in the brink of time I got to the fairy fountain and got the big fairy sword. It took me like almost 6 hours because I remember the timer was about to run out, the moon was about to crash and the land was trembling. It was super tense.
Also the whole time I was playing my gf was there knitting and telling me she loved me every 10 minutes or so lmao, to which I replied I love you too, it was weird but cute.

My parents fucked up in a number of ways, but I forgive them for gifting me an n64 and letting me have fun as much as possible. Zoomers haven’t a clue how incredible it was, especially when moving on from 16 bit. I’d travel back in time just to experience it again for the first time.

Had fun playing multiplayer like most people in this thread but I'm more of a single player autist and the one game I've spent the most time playing was probably Majora's Mask because I liked exploring the combinations what NPCs were doing depending on the time and some other conditions such as the status of certain quests or if the boss of an area was defeated. Perfect Dark as also god tier for both single player and multiplayer.

Leaving systems on was a habit people got from earlier consoles where a lot of games didn't have either passwords or saving. For example millions of people left their NES on overnight when playing SMB3 because it was quite a long game you couldn't save in

Staking out the enemy fort in Conker's Bad Furday with my friend on a multi-team vs match. With the AI set to the highest setting. We agreed that we would form a truce and help each other until the NPC's were gone but since I had the samurai sword he politely asked that I not draw it, as it is the fastest and can kill with one well-placed slice. But I didn't listen. At a crucial moment I tried to backstab him, and during the *chhhhhink* animation, he was prepared and reflexively turned around and gunned me before I could go frenzy mode on him. I don't remember what he was using, but it was over in an instant like some kind of anime action clip.

Funniest thing I ever saw.
