Mildly piggybacking from your flame war topic, how did Nintendo's fanbase shift so drastically in the last decade? If you remember pre-2010s Internet, most Nintendo fans were the "Post this in your Signature if you're a proud Christian" kind. They were generally blokes of that nature and upbringing. How did things shift to where most of those people are now of the trans rights stuff?

I think there's a few factors at play. The primary one is probably the simple fact that Nintendo's fanbase has grown exponentially. The switch is on the verge of becoming the best-selling console ever, so naturally it will attract all kinds of people including both Christian's and LGBTQIAM++Æ∑γβ types.

The second factor is more political but it's probably the simple fact that the Western church (speaking about Christianity in general when I say "the church", not a specific group like the Catholic church) largely failed to do it's job in the last few decades which has led to a huge falling out and more people are walking away than ever before. And typically when people leave they tend to overcorrect themselves as a form of rebellion, so rather than simply not going to church they will move 2000% in the opposite direction.
tl;dr - the Nintendo fans who were writing "put this in your signature if you're not afraid to admit you're a Christian" are the same Nintendo fans who are putting their pronouns in their bios and getting sex changes today. Not all of them of course, but many of them.
