I personally don't hate it but wish they gave some information on what stats does what and what light and dark does. I got to about the 10 hour mark and found myself doing nothing but grinding because I didn't set my stats right. Read a guide restarted it and blazed through the whole game without my problems.

I start playing FF I today because of /vr/.

I'm on emulation, but when I play emulated games, I do my best to play the games like on a real console, with no save states.

So, how do I "continue" my game without using savestates? Is there a password method? If I put the same characters and names when I enter on the "continue" screen, my game will loaded?

Pls help /vr/

>> No.1030069

>> No.1030072

>>1030065
FF uses a battery backup for saving. If you're selecting a party when you select continue, that means there's no save data and it's just defaulting to new game.

Fix your emulator.

Don't forget, when you save your game,

>> No.1030083

>>1030065
On most older games you either have a whole building to itself to save or you save in a church, king or inn. Some games if lucky allow saving in a menu. Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe FF save by using the menu on the first game.

>> No.1030086

Wait I may be thinking of the GBA remake. Ignore that.

Damn that game have a ton of remakes.

>> No.1030108

>>1030083
I think you need a inn. There is a way to save on the world map but you need to sleep in a tent or something if I remember right.
Also I say play the PSX version only because they fix a lot of the bugs the NES had. Like how some stats are useless and how some spells don't do anything. That's not saying the NES is unplayable it's just that a lot of the bugs are really annoying. Don't know if there is a fan patch of the NES but the PSX is basically the same game which I'm fine with.

>> No.1030151

>>1030108
There is a fan patch, yeah. There's also patches for the GBA version (Dawn of Souls), which I'd recommend over the PSX version because of those abysmal load times.

Most faithful is the PS1 version, especially since you can tinker the settings how you like to make it closer to the original, complete with missed attacks when enemies perish before your turn

i'd just like to drop by and make a recommendation for SNES.

play all of the games made by quintet, in order or release, starting with act raiser. there's something really special about quintet games, because they all seem to take place in the same world with huge gaps of time between them. if you like RPGs and top down action, you'll love them all. play in this order:

1. ActRaiser (check out ActRaiser 2 after that if you want, although its a slight departure)
2. Soul Blazer
3. Illusion of Gaia
3. Terranigma

>> No.1033026

>>1033023

Slight departure is underselling it - it was a pretty major departure, what with it cutting out most of the stuff that made Actraiser unique in the first place.
