With the current price of snes games if all you want to do is play a few games a fx-pack pro is perfect the perfect choice if you don't have the funds for the orignal carts, you could go with a x5 but that has not expansion chip support, fine for most games but you won't be playing mario kart or starfox with it..

This list should cover all the bases for platforming/rpg/adventure titles. RPGs are $$$ (Earthbound and Chrono Trigger are usually $200+). Not great unless you settle for a repro. If you want multiplayer titles, the Kirby games and Turtles in Time are excellent, or maybe Street Fighter if you want versus instead of co-op. F-Zero is better than Super Mario Kart as far as racing options go.

Tactics Ogre is the GOAT game to me.
My other favorite is SMT If... But I think that's not available in English and it is a huge grind at some points.
I really, really loved Mother 2, Mario RPG and Secret of Evermore as a kid. But I was a kid so I dunno.

Tactics Ogre is probably more like Disgaea than is the one you're probably referring to, but if you're OP then I don't know whether you'd find an English-language physical cartridge of Tactics Ogre (I've never played it myself). March of the Black Queen, which is certainly available, is deep and rich and somewhat awesome though, although it can also be an extremely boring slog if its weird systems for roleplaying don't happen to resonate with you (it's a pretty strange game, and it's designed with the expectation that you'll play it a LOT, multiple times through, and fail a lot as you slowly figure out how its world functions).
